Unnecessary Drama

Her question was only met with silence from the other. She really did not understand the logic, ' you bump into me, glare at me with those eyes, then opt to stay silent? Someone make it make sense....'

Rolling her eyes, Mei Lin turned back around to face the front. There wasn't any obvious weapons on the girl and if she wasn't going to answer, there was no point in watching her further. It was obvious the girl had an issue with her, for what reason who knew? She was fairly confident that it was someone she did not know and if she had, it was not significant.

The only answer that she could come up with is that she was jealous of her. The clothes she was wearing was fairly expensive and the branded bags in her hands only added to the image. However, if she was jealous there was no need to bump into her bags and look at her so strangely? The fourth headache of the day banged against her head at the introduction of this character.

It seemed that all day she was meeting strange characters, if this woman turned out to be a thorn in her side then she would have confirmed her bad luck. There was only so many interruptions she expected today and anything more than one was excessive. Her first reaction was to turn around and mind her business. A glare and slight bump was nothing too bad, she could still ignore it and hope that it ends this confrontation.

A couple seconds into her being on her phone again, there was a scoff behind her. She could still feel the eyes of the girl glaring into her back but disregarded it. The scoff was an additional sound and she could imagine the woman's face while making that noise. After that noise, there was a series of taps sounding behind her.

Glancing down from the corner of her eye, she could see a foot tapping against the floor in an aggravated manner. The woman had stood so close to her that she did not have to turn much to still see them in her periphery. Sighing internally, she moved forward closer to the person ahead of her. The line was slowly moving and she took that opportunity to increase the distance between them.

Low and behold, just as she moved forward the other came just as close.

'Why are you riding my back?? I don't understand why this girl is so close to me.'

She wanted to move her bags behind her to force more distance but she didn't have faith it would work. If she was jealous, she would use this chance to steal her items. Regardless, she could just push through the bags and lessen the distance. She did not have any boxes in her bags or any hard items so it was quite malleable.

'Fine, keep standing so close. Stand there until your satisfied! I won't acknowledge your nonsense.'

It was clear to her that she woman would continue to stand so close and display irritation. As long as she did not engage it should pass by peacefully. There were many people like the woman behind her, starting trouble for no reason. She felt like it was a mental issue or insecurity that made people react like this out of the blue. There was no way she could trigger a reaction automatically if they already didn't have some problem. The same way you could not build a house without a foundation being laid.

Readjusting the bags slightly, she began typing on the phone screen. She still had to write her list out in code words and use words that she would actually remember. The first thing that came to her mind was self-defence weapons. If she was a bit stronger or carried something on her she could help fight against unexpected situations.

When she was murdered, she was completely defenceless in the hands of the thugs and her brother. If she had a knife on her, at least she could have done some damage before the end. Her home also felt like a battle ground, with something small like a blade she would feel more safe. A little dagger or steak knife could be easily hidden inside her clothes.

Even if it wasn't a knife, she could buy other things and develop more suitable weapons after completing some more research online. There was also the issue of metal detectors, she knew major events would have them at the front to prevent any danger infiltrating. It would be optimal if she could find something both useful and could escape most security systems. That sort of configuration could be found online, there were a lot of amateurs who created tutorials for something like this. What the best part was that they would use items you could find around the house so it wouldn't be too suspicious.

The more complex weapon would have to wait but she wanted to grab something today just in case. Writing it down, the first bullet point was read as 'butter.' It was the easiest word she could think of since there were 'butter knives' and you used knives to spread butter. Once she was done at the bank she could stop by a store and grab those utility knives or sharp cutlery ones. Sneaking that into her shopping bag after would be easy and she could transfer it into her room once she got home.

The second thing that came to mind were prosthetics or more accurately, something to change her face. She knew that in the future there would be a need to switch identities. Different makeup and stuff that could alter her face would be extremely beneficial. Picking a random makeup store would suffice, she could grab different products that would help change her vibe. This was something that didn't need a code word, she could list them exactly as she needed. So she added: 'bronzer, highlighter, eyeliner, etcetera' onto the list.

However, makeup would not be enough to hide her. She would need other items to add to it and make the change more believable.

'What about....'

Just as she was thinking of what would help she heard a nasally voice speak behind her.

"Are you done?"
