Her face was neutral in expression but her voice was dripping with sarcasm. There was a fine line between being rude and maintaining pride as someone in a superior position. Regardless of knowing the other's identity, she had her own status that could not be shook so easily. While she detested her family and the members within it, her family name was an armour of defence. She had already died for it once, who could stop her from using it to her advantage now. There was no need to be someone who presented herself as a 'kind lady' when it was just letting people walk over them.
She shifted her body position to put her hip back and her leg in front. It was a lazy position but exuded a noble behaviour. The mannerisms her mother taught her were in her bones and was natural displayed without her trying. It was not something she cared about but was useful in situations like this. It automatically made the 'viewer's' look kindly upon her or make them underestimate her less due to her mannerisms.
Once she was done with her sentence, she just waited for the woman to speak. There were glares and a visible change in her expression, but no words in response had left her mouth yet. It would be ridiculous that they would put so much energy into causing a scene, only to become quiet after one comment. Her face had turned the colour of a cherry while her eyes looked like a bull's from the way her eyebrows were downturned. The contortion of her face took away whatever beauty the girl had and left only an evil after image behind.
Still with all of this, it was just a weird silence between the two. The audience they had were also beginning to turn back to their own work from the lack of action. She gave approximately a bit over a minute for a response before losing interest in the argument. This woman was unknown to her and she had no desire to argue with someone, especially if they would waste her time. It was fine to be arrogant as long as you can maintain that energy when challenged. If you were to give up after one comment, that was just pathetic in her eyes.
"Well as long you agree, I would suggest you take some medicine before leaving the house."
Just for the amount of annoyance this woman gave, she could not help but give one more remark before turning back to her original position. However, it seemed that her comment had triggered the other out of whatever stalemate they were in.
"Who do you think you are!! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?! Me NEEDING MEDICINE, YOU ARE THE ONE WHO NEEDS TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL."
The volume of her words had entered the realm of yelling and now everyone around them had refocused back onto them. She felt like at the volume being spoken, even outside this office people would be able to hear her.
Mei Lin felt a sigh leave her, the response was still lacklustre. Pulling on her right ear a bit, she shook it slightly to showcase that the sound was loud.
"Are you a parrot? Why are you shrieking about in a bank and repeating the same sentence over and over again. Who do you think you are? Do you know who I am? Blah Blah. Sorry if you're going to waste my time can you be more creative?"
" Do YOU know who I am." The woman's eyes got smaller as her glare got more intense.
"There you go again, sorry what part of my previous sentence did you not understand? Why do you keep repeating the same question over and over again. Of course I do not know you nor do I care. First of all, are you the leader of this country or some nobel peace prize recipient for me to know you? Do you see me going around asking people if they know me? No because I, unlike some people am aware of where I stand. Or is it that you just don't know who you are? Again, a hospital or police station would be better than that, I can't help you."
'You...YOU...."
"Aw delusions, memory loss, and a stutter. Life is really hard for you huh? Well again, please remember to take your medicine before leaving or visit the hospital for more assistance. If you are trying to get me to help you, well then you're going to have to ask nicer. Don't worry, I won't take this to heart. I'll just take it as helping the less fortunate."
Every word she said was with a smile and a 'I'm magnanimous person' type expression. However, anyone who could hear her knew how infuriating her words were. It wasn't a "read between the lines" situation, she was directly calling the other an insane individual who needed medical attention.
There was a comical element to it all when seeing how angry the other got from her words but again, the responses were few to none. After all that she had been through, Mei Lin was at her wit's end for putting up with bullshit. People thought she was a pushover and treated her as such when she remained silent. However, if she were to let random passerby's bully her what was the use of living again? She would not take any losses from people she knew or did not know, this time she would be attacking each and every one of them.
Internally, she got a bit of satisfaction from instigating the woman as such. It had been such a long time since she was able to speak with out restraint or much restraint and it felt good. When she was younger, she was known for having a fast mouth in her family. Quick to respond, quick to attack. It was only her mother's teachings that forced her to suppress that side of her, however it was still there.
Dormant inside just waiting for an exit like now.
