A Massacre Under the Sea

It's been a couple of weeks since the war of the narwhals, and I haven't been able to find anything worth a damn. Other than small things like krill which barely give me experience or biomatter, there isn't anything that is worth killing... oh? I knew complaining about it would work, I smell blood. Following the scent I find two groups of monsters fighting, using Analysis I find the two monsters are Mega Lobsters and a Shocktopus... really electrified octopuses. Both groups seem to have originally had around eighty members each but they've been brought down to around twenty combatants, with a general standard of around levels 4-6.

Details: A Large Lobster that lives on the seafloor. They live in large groups and often fight with other dwellers of the seafloor for food. They have one large claw that is used to stun weaker foes.

The Mega Lobsters have high physical strength and vitality, while the shocktopus is its opposite, as it has a high affinity for magic but relatively weak to physical attacks. They are weak to each other which probably explains the high body count in the short time since first blood was drawn.

While my intention was to look for a small skirmish to turn into another marine war, it seems as though one has already started without my warmongering. Moreover, I had intended to fight along the stronger side and betray them if they were weak enough after the fight, but both sides have weakened considerably in the time it took for me to arrive. I can totally just turn this into a free for all fight and still come out top. Being only tier 4, their stats aren't terribly high and with my Soul Furnace bonuses, they won't be able to do the bare minimum to me. Although the shocktopus might still be a danger with their lightning element attacks, so I should put my focus on them and only go after the lobsters if a chance arises.

With a plan in mind, I join the fray. My entrances seem to surprise the lobsters and octopuses, but the initial surprise doesn't last long as both realise my intentions. Lobsters come swimming over in an attempt to stun me. But my high vitality is far too much as they can barely do as much as a scratch to my scales. The Mega Lobsters may be big for a lobster, but I'm a giant fucking Dragon, as such I end up eating the nearby lobsters alive.

Soon enough, electric currents begin to spread through the water, but as they make contact the do slightly more to me than the strikes of the lobsters, only doing more than the minimum because of my weakness. Unlike the lobsters who need to be close to be able to hit me, the octopuses can fire from range, but that won't stop me from eating them alive as well, as I dash towards them. Perhaps this is unjustified hatred but it doesn't matter since they attack with lightning elemental magic they deserve my wrath. As I draw near the shocktopuses, I shoot them with my Acid Beam before devouring the whole and still in pain from my acid. Although I can't catch more than one of them when doing this, it's ok, they deserve a slow and painful death.

Seeing the atrocity before them and how little all their attacks combined do to me, both the Mega Lobsters and the Shocktopuses begin to flee. Unfortunately for them and fortunately for me, they are nowhere near as fast as the few monsters that live in the abyss as I quickly get into the range of the lobsters and shoot them with my Ice Breath, slowing them down and preventing them from fleeing as I turn back around to continue my torture of the shocktopuses. Death to all lightning users.

After finishing off all the shocktopuses I turn my attention back towards the lobsters, only to find that another monster joined the chaos and attacked the lobsters as they tried to flee. My old not friend, the Bullet Mantis Shrimp. But a quick use of Analysis tells me that it is far weaker than the last one I met.

It's still much stronger in terms of pure power, but compared to the other shrimp I saw, this guy is nothing. After killing so many of the Shocktopuses I got enough experience to be halfway to level 7 even with a 30% penalty for their low tier. I should be able to take a hit from the shrimp now, and with its low health, it should be easy pickings.

Seeing my dart towards it, the Bullet Mantis Shrimp primes its claw and gets ready to fire. Shooting out a shockwave that spreads through the water at amazing speeds, the pressure causing the surrounding water to practically boil. The impact of the shockwave deals an immediate 1,366 damage and the remaining heat shaves off another 200 from my health, leaving me with only 244 HP left. Thankfully it takes time for another strike to come out giving me the opportunity to shoot out an Ice Breath and launch an Ice Shard, leaving it with only 65 HP left. Seeing it prime its claw again I swing my tail to finish it, completely crushing the shrimp's body as I hear the system notification.

"You have slain a Level 7 Adult Bullet Mantis Shrimp. You have gained 534 EXP. Because you have slain a monster 3 tiers higher, you have gained an additional 30% EXP(160). Because you have slain a monster of a higher evolutionary state, your total EXP has doubled. You have gained a total of 1,388 EXP."

With my health so low I make sure to eat up the remains of the Shrimp and the lobsters it had killed so as to restore my health. It's a shame I wasn't able to get any of the experience from them though. But I obtained a massive haul today. A quick look at my status shows I pretty big jump in my stats compared to a few months ago, too bad none of my skills levelled up in this war-- er... massacre is probably a better word for this scenario.

It wasn't just my stats that took a big jump, but my biomatter went up drastically as well. The lobsters as a whole weren't worth much, nor was the shrimp giving 70kg and 60kg respectively. But all the octopuses added up to a total of 4,170kg. I earned a total of 5,000kg of biomatter in just a matter of hours, bring my current amount up to 6,434kg.

I now have so much biomatter that I can choose any of the available mutations and still have some left over. But the question is, what do I pick?
