Chapter 48: A New Threat

In the depths of an ice cave in the middle of Antarctica, a local research team consisting of seven people was busy exploring the large cave whilst taking notes of some weird etchings that filled the walls of the cave.

They were unable to contact anyone as they were completely underground and had no kind of connection, the nearest base camp was a two-day hike from their position, and this team was called out here when someone came across the cave and noticed the marking on the outside.

Going further down the cave they started to hear strange sound an could see a light coming from one of the paths down the cave, as they got closer to the light they could not see a source and had no idea what it was.

As they got closer flashes of lights kept flashing past them, a small yellow glow whipped past them as it did they could feel a breeze come from it.

The researchers were even more interested in the cave and its contents wanting to search further down, hoping what they would find would make them wealthy or something that could get them into the history books.

They continued down the tunnel towards the light whilst trying to get pictures of the flashing light that kept passing them but every picture did not show anything on it, as they got a few feet from the light they entered into a large opening that looked like someone was living there.

In the middle of the room was a box on a table that had a yellow light coming from it, one of the researchers took pictures of the box then closed in, placing it in her bag, as she did all their headlamps cut out and they were plunged into darkness.

In the darkness the team started to panic trying to get their lights back on, suddenly the flashing yellow light came back down the tunnel towards them, as it entered the room it started darting around the room kicking up different pieces of papers.

Suddenly the light came at the team attacking the group, grabbing them one by one until only the person who took the box was left, in a panic, she took the box out of her bag as she did all the lights turned back on.

Looking around her she saw her entire team spread across the room covered in blood with some of them missing body parts before she even had a chance to react, the yellow light returned this time it came right up to her face.

Revealing itself to be a man covered in yellow lightning, the man grabbed her by the neck picking her up off the ground and squeezing until she could not breathe.

Researcher: What are you?

The man instantly snapped her neck dropping her limp body onto the floor.

???: Something the world is going to fear soon enough

As he said that he once again made the room completely dark grabbing the box and placing it on the table then taking off down through the cave and into the snowy waste.
