Mr. Stuart's Descision Chapter 53

Thinking upon this fact further, Mr. Stuart concluded that it would be best for him to get his younger children out of this enviorment.

Nathanial was going away to school so he didn't have to worry about him.

That just left Adalaide and the twins for him to make a choice upon the matter for.

As Mr. Stuart was trapped in his own thoughts for the future, Nathanial finally appeared on the scene with Adalaide and Francine looking over his shoulder.

Upon entering the room, Nathanial itmedaitely noticed Miriams bloody nose and scratches and red marks all over her body.

It looked as if she had been on the losing end of a rowdy tavern brawl.

When they entered the scene, Mr. Stuart snapped out of his swirling inner thoughts and grimaced at the three of them, before opening his mouth to speak.

"I am deeply ashamed of you threes handling of your younger brother here. Not only did you not keep an eye on him, you haven't even beaten any sense into this brat. Why does he think it's appropriate to attack a younger girl who he's over a head taller than." He bellowed at the three oldest siblings of the household.

Nathanial grimaced, Francine flinched, and Adalaide frowned.

Adalaide wanted to open her mouth to talk back to her father, but Francine quickly covered Adalaide's mouth with her hand.

Couldn't Adalaide just keep quiet and let their brother answer for them?

Francine had been thoroughly knocked down a peg by today's earlier events so she decided to just keep quiet and not stir up anything.

Who knew her destructive little brother would go and anger the male currently in their household, by attacking his young daughter.

Mr. Stuart looked back at Miriam, a frown on his face.

"Stupid! Shes a stupid girl! Let go of me Henry!" Jeremy shouted at Henry to let go of him.

Nathanial noticing the tense atmosphere, tried to calm everyone down.

"Jeremy stop throwing a tantrum and behave yourself like a proper little gentleman. Henry, don't be so rough handling him, he's still very little. Father, what do you mean Jeremy attacked Miriam? She looks alright too me..." Nathanials words seemed to trail off as he saw that state Miriam was in.

Scratches all over her body, and red marks from being hit that would not doubt turn into nasty bruises with time once they started to heal.

Mr. Stuart cast a dark glance at at Nathanial, before opening his mouth to speak once more.

"Very well, I guess we shall have to leave after lunch. I want you, Nathanial, to personally stay by your youngest brothers side and not let him leave your sight for a even half a second. Even when he uses the chamber pot, you must be right there guarding the door against his temptations."

Nathanial upon hearing these strict commands, knew right away that Jeremy had been put permantly on his fathers black list.

Letting out a internal sigh, Nathanial replied to his father by saying with a respectable tone of voice, "I understand Father, this son of yours shall not let you down."

Looking towards the trio at the door Miriam quieted down her sobs.

Crying and sobbing so hard with a four year old body, one could only accomplish so much before exhausting oneself.

Henry clutched Jeremy by the hand and began to drag him across the room towards the door.

The little boy was still carrying on and hollering about how Miriam stole what was rightfully his, and abunch of misogynistic remarks.

Once Henry had left the room with the trouble child, Nathanial followed him out and he pulled on Francines sleeve to tell her to quickly follow him.

Francine's face paled for a mili-second before regaining her normal color and obediently tailing him out of the room.

Adalaide, on the other hand, just stood near the doorway and folded her arms in front of herself, as if in contemplation.

Otto, had stood frozen in place in the corner of the room during this whole familial debacle, not knowing what was going on.

He had wanted to intervene, but wasn't sure if he should stop the boy from pummeling Miriam.

Otto wasn't sure if she had done something to deserve the beating.

Mr. Stuart turned his head in Ottos direction, and a icy blue eyed gaze full of disdain, squarely locked onto Otto making eye contact with the little boys dark brown innocent eyes.

Mr. Stuart let out an audible 'Tcchh' clicking sound from his mouth before noticing Beatrice hurrying her way into Miriams room with two trays of food in her hands.

Mr. Stuart then swiveled his head to glance at Beatrice.

Beatrice almost dropped the trays in her hands when she saw the stormy look currently on Mr. Stuart's face.

"I have decided we will be leaving and setting out for Manhattan early. We will leave in a few hours. Please set her food down here and go find Fiona and Emma to help you pack up our things." Instructed Mr. Stuart to Beatrice.

Happy that they were finally leaving this house, Miriam couldnt wait to see New York during this time period.

Beatrice hurridly set the food trays down on the table next to the basket, and turned around and swiftly left the scene to attend to the duties she was ordered too.

"Miriam, dont worry. I your father, will make everything right. All you have to do is stay nice, happy, and healthy..." Mr Stuart says, while trying to sound like the most caring and considerate father to ever walk the earth.

"Okay father. Do you plan on getting me a new Governess once we get to where we're going?" Miriam asked, looking rather shy to bring up such a topic so soon.

"Indeed. There are a few people I have in mind. Also, I am thinking of taking your sisters with us, so that they can get a proper education." Mr Stuart says to Miriam.

Confused, she thinks for a brief moment before concluding that he must mean her sisters that were currently at this house, instead of the ones who she grew up with at the estate.

These words reminded Stuart that he should really have Miriam dress mourning attire for her recently deceased sister, Danella.

Darting around the room with his eyes for a minite or two, Mr. Stuart cleared his throat with a 'Kahrummph Eck!'. Then he finally got around to delivering the bad news to his youngest daughter.

"Your sister Danella passed away recently while she was in her first year of schooling in Britian. We should probably buy some mourning clothes for us to be adorn in when we get to Manhattan..."

Blinking her puffy blue eyes a few time as if in disbelief, Miriam hesitantly asked, "And when did you find this out...father?"

"Don't question me, I know your being choked up with grief right now. I too, as her father, am grieving immensely right at this very moment.

She passed away roughly a month and three weeks ago from fever. It took some time for the message to reach us from Britan, you see.The message was received by me the day before we left for our journey." Mr Stuart said, in a somewhat defensive manner.

"Oh, okay. That is very sad. We should get mourning attire as soon as we arrive in Manhattan. Father is very wise to not let these matters dictate how he runs his businesses." Miriam says, in a somewhat veiled tone of voice.

Her father, Stephen, of course doesn't notice the difference in her tone. He thinks his youngesy daughter is indeed becoming more and more like him the older she gets and has a wise business savvy head atop her shoulders.
