Munch Munch Chapter 55

Picking up the cup of tea off the tray, Miriam held it up to her nose and took a whiff of its aroma.

It smelt pretty good! Slowly, she took a small sip of the tea, as if to test it. What she tasted was a very fragrant green tea, not the highest quality but still very nice non the less.

It had a hint of what tasted like bergamot in it, a bit citrusy.

Otto sniffled abit, and then let out a loud snotty sneeze right in Miriams direction.

Luckily, being the fast thinker she was, when she spied him winding up for a sneeze she quickly turned her body around to shield the food tray and protect the food from Otto's mouth and nose particulates.

'Ew germs...He's not sick is he? Oh God please no! No wait, it could be allergies. Calm down....but it could also be some terrible disease! No I haven't had my vaccines yet!'

Sending a glare at Otto, Miriam ripped the pork chop slice in half with her hands and prepared a pork sandwich. Proceeding to hold out the prepared pork sandwich to Otto, who looked to be slightly confused and very hesitant.

"Oh wait, he might be Muslim so eating pork is a no no, right? Ack! Okay hold on little guy..." Miriam said while speaking to herself softly outloud.

Putting the sandwich down on the remaining pork slice, gathered it all up in her hands and pushed the remaining food tray with the corn flour bread and fruit towards Otto.

"Here eat this, sorry but I dont think you can have pork so just to be on the safe side I'm not giving any to you..." The little girl sighed.

How did she end up taking care of a second little boy? Perhaps her calling in this life time was not to be famous for anything, but to be a nanny instead?

Hmmmm.....

No, Miriam didnt really mind being a nanny that much, but... she thought her skills were better implemented elsewhere.

As if finally understanding Miriams gesture towards the food tray and to himself, Otto got the hint that he should start to eat.

The gap between the way Otto ate, and her brother Bannon...was truly like the Grand Canyon of Arizona.

Delicately the boy nibbled on the corn flour bread like some middle eastern royalty...

Wait! Did she maybe save some big whigs kid? Maybe there would be a reward?

Or maybe it would be such a shame to be saved by some little white girl that his family would die of shame...

Who knows?

Miriam didnt regret saving someone in trouble. Especially if that someone was a kid. Never having the chance have a serious relationship or children because of all of her pasts life's responsibilities and studying, in this life Miriam wondered if she could get married and have some adorable little kids...

With the pork sandwich in hand, she started to eat it quickly but not in a disorderly manner.

If she was on lunch during a shift at the hospital, she might be eating like Bannon did too...

The sunlight that came in through the glass paned window, shone onto Miriams hair and made it look as if it was slightly glowing with its golden color.

"Miriam, your hair is so shiny. Do you think people would think it was gold thread if we cut it off and tried to sell it?" Keeping a straight face, Bannon asked this to his sister Miriam as he was finishing the last bits of food that were left on the food tray in front of him.

!!!

"Bannon, if we cut off my hair, were making it into a wig for you to wear in a girly style.~" Replied Miriam while a cheerful smile that alighted her face.

Bannon made a baffled face before he pouted and stated, "Nevermind, I like your hair how it is now..."

"Me too brother...I also like my hair how it is now. By the way, were leaving this place today. Are you excited to go see the city? I can't wait... So many things I need to buy still..." Miriams says as she get a far away look in her clear eyes.

"At least you can buy things...father treats me like I don't exsist..." Bannon grumbles softly seeming to feel abit vexed by this fact.

Still eating, Miriam took a moment to finish the food in her mouth and took a sip of the water glass off the food tray. Setting the water glass back down onto the tray, and clearing her throat before preparing to speak.

"You know, that may be a blessing. At least he isn't making plans for you." Miriam says before picking up the cup of tea and taking a large sip of it.

Watching Miriam while eating his food, Otto practically had little stars in his eyes as he gazed at Miriam so tastefully eating and sipping drink.

Not paying to much mind to Otto who sat on the bed next to her and the food tray, Miriam had her head turned toward her 'big' brother.

Bannon who sat on the chair pulled in front of the table in the bedroom, had a somewhat contemplative look on his slightly freckled but pale skinned childish face.

"What do you mean, father has plans for you? I don't understand sister. Why do you always seem to act older than your age?" Questioned Bannon as he stole a quick glance at at his little sister before standing up and opening the top of the snake baskets lid.

Inside, Samantha looked up at the new light the was enveloping her small basket home and one would swear she had a little snake frown appear on her face. This frown apparently appeared as soon as she saw Bannon was the one who disturbed her rest.

'This weird and fearful two leg, hmmm... is it giving me food?'

Samantha raised her coiled up body slightly and looked at the boy, trying to see some delectable treat that may perhaps be dangling from his fingers.

Alas for poor Samantha the snake, Bannon was just being a bother and gawking at the poor reptilian lass.

"Father is going to keep a close eye on me and probably be more strict with my schedule and public actions the older I get. Most likely I won't have complete say in who I marry. Unlike you, even if your illegitimate, you were born a boy. Even if father was strict and confining with you, you can eventually escape by your early twenties by just becoming a grown man. Unlike me, even if I grow up and become an adult in body and mind, I would still be unable to leave our family easily." Miriam says all this while a faint smile appears on her face and the corners of her eyes crease.

"That doesn't really sound that fair. Is it like that in all families?" Bannon asks Miriam, as if somewhat not believing it.

"Yes, I would say in almost all well off families it is like this... Bannon this world is not fair or right. God is not going to help everyone equally. It is up to an individual wether they will succeed in life or not. Or in other words, we humans have to try and be happy. It will not just rain from the sky like water and drench us in good feelings. We must strive for happiness and success. Also, if your wondering why I am so much more knowledge than you I'm just a genius..." Miriam says this after she finishes eating her mid day meal.

Carefully as to not disturb the food trays contents, Miriam gets off the bed slowly and lands on her feet on the solid wood flooring.

"If you want father to notice you, I suggest you wait a abit until your older. Have fun with me first. I'll help you with reading and writing. Math, and science. Believe in this sister of yours. Once I promised to your mother that I would watch over you and make sure you don't fall behind in this family. I am a girl of my word, we'll definitely get rich together Bannon..." Saying these heartfelt and noble words, Miriam begins to make sure everything of hers is pa ked and ready to go soon.

"Were leaving soon, hurry and get packed so you don't leave extra work for your mother, the servants, and me." Orders Miriam since she can see that Bannon is just pestering poor Samantha by gazing at her.

"Oh, okay..." Says Bannon as he wipes his hands off on his shirt and closes the lid to the basket and begins walk around the room and tidy up his small amount of belongings.
