Kain came of age during the apocalypse and humanity is on the brink of annihilation. A strange radiation wave hit earth and transformed some people into zombies, some into monsters, and others into metahumans. Earth has been divided into those who are barely surviving and those who are dominating. Unfortunately, the metahumans have not been able to keep up with the monsters trying to consume them and only one metahuman city has yet to fall.

Kain still hasn't figured out what his powers are, which puts him on the bottom of the food chain. He is relegated to the suicide squads sent out to gather information in order to take back the fallen cities around the last bastion of humanity.
