Ch 3 Part 1

Chapter 3:

With a stern look that pretty much said it all, they seemed to know what the orders were before anything was ever said. The ten stood by him while the others broke camp down in record time. After which Nuvaro ordered them to head back to the village and make sure the defenses were up even more knowing there was more possible slavers in the area. By the time six in the evening had come, they were all underway. All that was left was to wait for his father's reply, knowing that would not take long. Although Nuvaro had a few more men standing with him than he had initially planned on, which was fine, they were not taking no for an answer anyway. After making sure the last load of food was also packed, he saw part of his troops off as they headed to defend the village. They then set out to follow Cedren as she was headed to the big city. It had already been a full day's ride by this point in time. Even so, nothing would stop them.

And to add insult to injury, they would use the slaver captain's own wagon. How perfect would that be in the long run? He felt that they would never see such a rouse coming in the long run. And who knows, they all might get a good laugh at their expense when they see the looks on his associates faces. As they finished preparations to follow, back in the slaver caravan, was Cedren, now facing the Village girl who had caused all this unneeded turmoil. She was so mad at her, but being in the binds, she could not even give her the much-needed bitch slap she so deserved. All she could do was stare at her in fuming silence, just waiting for her to say something, anything that would let Cedren just scream loudly. When the village girl finally noticed, she just looked to the side with a sigh that seemed to convey most of the nonchalant ways she carried herself even in this messed up situation. So Cedren decided to say something first. She figured it would be a good opportunity to find out what possess someone to turn their back on their own people and their home.

Cedren: (Looking at Krista, she had so many unsavory things she wanted to say at this moment, but now was not the time.) "By the gods, so how in the hell did you end up in here with me, were not you at the village? What about your duties?"

Krista: (Looking back toward Cedren, she sighed to herself once again half mockingly as she did.) "I pissed the slaver guy off somehow and they put me in here for my trouble. Claiming I did not do enough surveillance or something like that. But you are in here with me, so it is not all bad, they got you in the end as planned."

Cedren: "What in the hell is wrong with you? Seriously? Not only selling out your own kind but a fellow female as well, you have no shame whatsoever."

Krista: "Like I actually care anymore. You ended up with everything I ever wanted. I wanted him to be MINE, but you got him instead. I figured with you out of the way, he would have to find someone else, and I wanted that someone else to be ME. Traditions be damned."

Cedren: "So let me get this straight, not only did you not understand the significance of our traditions concerning the mating ritual, not even mentioning the bond that goes into it due to the alchemy used, but you were willing to sell out your own people's. Your mating attempt failed, so now you are going to whine and cry and screw your own family over. Bravo. You are not worthy of being called a village member. Let alone a fellow female, you are nothing but scum."

Krista: "If you haven't noticed, I could care less at this point. I never seemed to be suited to the village anyways. I always seemed to be just on the outside looking in anyway."

Cedren: "Okay then, let me put it this way, if you had actually managed to find your soul partner, no matter who it may have been, would you be happy having them taken from you as you have done to me? How would it have made you feel if your family members ended up being taken, what then?"

Krista: "Well I guess I will never know now, will I. I am in the back of this thing same as you. Oh look, they broke one of my nails when they loaded me in here, damn it. How can they look perfect all chipped and broke?"

Cedren: (Blinking several times with a surprised look upon her face of both disbelief and awe…) "What the hell??!! You do not even care about the pain you are causing your own family over the loss of you? Wow, that is cold. Only focused on something as stupid as your nails."

Krista: "Of course I am worried about my nails. Everything I do must be perfect. He will be coming for me you wait and see. When he does, I must look perfect, like a princess."

Cedren: "Wow, you truly live in a world that is all your own. Completely believing a man who is not your mate, will rescue you. Well you just keep on believing that little fantasy of yours."

She just shrugged her shoulders as if nothing could bother her anymore and looked out the small window next to her head. All Krista kept thinking to herself was, "I need to be perfect. I need to look perfect. He is all I have left now. I hope he comes to find me". With the sparkle of total delusion still glinting in her eyes, in a world that only she seems to know. Cedren looked at Krista wondering what she was thinking, but only for a moment; she only knew she wanted her far away from herself now. Thinking to herself, how are Krista's parents going to take the news of their own child doing such a thing? All Cedren could do was look out her little window hoping her mate was following by this point in time. Only difference was she could emit her scent strongly along the trail so that Nuvaro could follow. That would be the best and fastest method to track her down, aside from him connecting directly to her soul, though that method is remarkably effective, it is also very tiring on both parties. She decided it was best to save that link as a last resort in hopes that Nuvaro was thinking the same. Now was not the time to lose our heads. Meanwhile, Nuvaro had gotten word back from his father. His father told him to be careful on his journey and that he would send word to his ally and friend in the city to be on the lookout for Cedren in any of the slave markets. If they were to see Cedren, thanks to her eyes, it would be simple, they were to pull all their money together and do whatever it took to get her back.
