Especially since she was carrying the future of their clan. He wrote one final reply to his father letting him know that they would be riding hard for at least a day and a half to try and catch up, after thanking him for his response to have the allies be on the lookout. They were going to make sure they caught up no matter what. By the end of the third day in the cart, she realized they had pulled into the slaver town on the outskirts. They stopped and set up temporary camp. No doubt they were wanting to wait and see if the rest of the caravan was going to be catching up. That must have been why it took them so long to get here. They were going slow on purpose. Little did they know that all their party members were all most definitely dead at this point. They did not know that them going slow was going to be a good thing for Nuvaro as it gave them the time, they needed to catch up the rest of the way. The slaver captain's second in command seemed to be following a set pattern. Cedren seemed to stay focused on their habits, this would make it easier to convey thoughts when the time came. The whole while Krista sat and was thoroughly puzzled as to how Cedren could stay so calm about all this as she was finally letting the gravity of the situation sink in. She looked to Cedren as she started with a frustrated rant.
Krista: "How in the hell are you so calm about all this? You realize that we are going to be sold into slavery, why aren't you freaking out? You do realize what is in this city right? One of the main things this city caters to, right?"
Cedren: "If you have not figured it out or have refused to pay attention over the last, nearing two years now, I am the WIFE of the next chief. I cannot afford to let my emotions get the better of me now. Thinking logically is the only way."
Krista: "What does that have to do with anything? We are going to be sold as breading stock, how are you not scared?"
Cedren: "I am scared, but being a mental mess is not going to help me out of this now is it. You should have realized a lot sooner that you would have been doubled crossed. How dumb are you that you expected a fair deal to come from the mouth of a slave trader of all people? Their whole job is to ruin people's lives and not for the better."
Krista "I do not even really know what the hell happened, next thing I knew he said our deal was off and I was put in here. All he said was, your scouting was incorrect, now you come with us for wasting our time."
Cedren: "You truly are an idiot. You should have been banished long ago. But the Chief was just to caring. Whatever fate awaits you, you have more than earned, no matter how it turns out. You tried to have me sold into the flesh trade, and you're surprised you ended up here too, what an unbelievable moron you have been."
Krista: "Well then, I will just have to have the belief that he will come and save me before that happens, now won't I? Yes, I will have to look perfect for him when he gets here. (She lifted her hands up and looked at her nails carefully, wishing they were all intact.) Though, this broken nail of mine looks bad."
Cedren: "Truly remarkable, sitting here chained, same as me and you think my mate will come to save you? Wow, you have utterly lost your damn mind. I doubt even becoming a breeder is going to fix your mind, you are truly mad."
Krista: "I won't be a breeder you'll see; he will come, and I will be freed. I just have to make sure no more nails break off, it just looks awful."
Cedren gave Krista one final glare before looking out the window once again. She was listening carefully for anything the second in command had to say. And if it was of importance, she was going to risk sending the soul bond message. Hours went by as he came to the back of the cage handing small tubes of water in telling us to drink up, as he had done every day since we started our way here. I knew I had to stay strong and handed the water to Krista first, as usual to make sure that nothing had been put in it. When she seemed to be fine after a half an hour or so, Cedren preceded to drink some water herself. When the tube was emptied, she passed it back through the cage door opening again, as she had done so the last two days. To Cedren' s surprise, the second in command then passed them pieces of sliced fruit to eat again, as he had also done the last two days at least once. She handed half to Krista, when Krista refused to eat them, yet again, Cedren just shrugged her shoulders and continued to eat the fruit. I mean it was the only thing she had gotten each day for three days. No sense letting it go to waste, besides, she was eating for more than herself now. But that was something she kept to herself. It had now been around two hours since they stopped on the outskirts, and finally something was said she could use.
Kale the Slaver: "I wonder where the boss is at, he sure is late. He has never been this late before. What do you guys think we should do till he gets here?"
Cedren: (It was the break I had been hoping for, I just must keep listening. Maybe they will be dumb enough to slip with important information. I need to make sure to keep my thoughts to myself.) "Oh, this could be useful."
Slavers: "We should stay here till morning at least before heading further in just in case, we don't want them punishing us if they can't find us. Yeah, the slave market is not going anywhere. Besides, we drove slow enough getting here that he should not be too much longer, now right?"
Kale the Slaver: "That is a really good point. I do not feel like hearing him bitch to bad myself. We will set out to head further into town tomorrow after I talk with the action house. Make sure to have everything packed up by tomorrow afternoon sometime."
Slavers: "You got it. Though I am disappointed that our take was not as good as it could have been. Seriously, what the hell was the boss doing anyway."
Kale the Slaver: "Just make sure it is done. I cannot be having the auction guy getting pissed off you know. And besides, I do not know what or why he decided to do things the way he did this trip. I was wanting a bigger haul too. Had some contacts set up in the next town over. When we are done here, I will make sure to get in touch with them again."
They mumbled in agreement and finally just dealt with the situation. As everyone was settling in for the evening, Cedren was prepping herself for the soul connection with the information she just heard while pretending to be asleep. It was now a little past midnight, or so she felt it from the look of the moon she could manage to see. After making sure that the immediate area seemed to be all quiet, she began to prep herself mentally for the soul connection linkup. After making sure even the village girl was deep in sleep, Cedren then began the process.
