Ch 6 Part 4

Nuvo Hact: "Did what I hear from one of the women coming out of the midwife's home correct? Your mate is carrying triplets?"

Nuvaro: "Calm down father, we just found out ourselves. We were going to tell you, but it appears the gossip chain was faster."

Cedren: "That is right. Besides, the midwife put me on strict bedrest because I am her first case of more than one child. So, we are going to start doing everything she said to do. I also sent a carrier bird to my family with the news. You were not going to be left out, I promise."

As soon as I finished what I had to say and mentioned the bed rest, his father tried his best to calm himself down. The whole time, his wife was doing her best to get him to calm down. Their excitement for them was starting to become overwhelming to Cedren. His mother walked up to Cedren, with the largest smile she had ever seen on her and hugged her tightly. Along with Nuvaro, she helped walk Cedren to the table and they all sat down to eat. This behavior from Nuvaro and his mother would start to become habit over time. With Nuvaro out training all day with the troops and new inductees, he came home every day to his mom and a housemaid helping Cedren every day. Nuvaro felt sad because he wanted to help more, but with no one there to help train, it was a seemingly impossible task at this time. He was determined to find a way to help ease both of their burdens. He could only be thankful that his mother and the housemaids had stepped in to help Cedren with basic stuff.

Meanwhile, the trial month had passed for Krista's placement in the pit area. It was now time for her first fight. All Kale the Slaver could do was hope that he would at least get some return on bets, no matter what. Thankfully, Oshwa the Brave had all bets set up so that no matter what, there was a return, no matter how the fight ended up. They had gotten everything ready; her first fight was going to be a female that had been there for at least three months. She had barely managed to win, and it took her some time heal properly. With the day set, it would be a fight in their beast forms. That would be an attraction to see, and seats were booked solid. Oshwa the Brave and Kale the Slaver were setting up for that evenings event. Both were completely happy that they had sold out of seating space. With this type of turn out, they hoped every one of her fights in the future would pack the house just the same.

Kale the Slaver: "I can hardly believe we sold out all the seats in the arena. And here I thought a beast form fight wouldn't go over well."

Oshwa the Brave: "Never underestimate a crowd wanting to see any kind of vicious fight. Especially when females are involved. For some odd reason, it is more blood thirsty. Learned that from the past fights."

Kale the Slaver: "Really now? This will be my first time seeing the females fighting. With the marketplace, I do not have much time to go to other places, but with her here now, I finally get to see it for myself."

Oshwa the Brave: "Don't worry. It will be totally worth it. Let us just hope she can win at least one of these fights we set up for her. The one she is going to be fighting kind of went mad herself. It was her first fight, and it was a desperation move on her part. But I am always up for a good show, regardless."

The evening hours finally came, and Krista was placed into the opposing side while the female with the one win was in the red cage. That color signaled to the audience that there was at least one to five wins for that opponent. Krista stood in the corner of the cage unsure of what she was supposed to do. They had taken her from the one holding cell and made her leave her makeshift brush behind. She stood there pacing the back of the cell leading to the area as though she would grind a path into the dirt. The opposing side, the female who had won her first fight was looking in some near, but an extremely far away location. Not at, but in Krista's direction. Her win was a desperation win, but a win non the less. Only problem was, she was not right in the head after the win, after all, she had always been a breeder, then the last child she had made it to where she was useless as a breeder anymore. Due to an issue having the last child, it left her unable to bear another child. The switch up was apparently way more than she could handle mentally. It messed her mind some something awful.

Her lips moved with unheard words continually mouthing the same phrase repeatedly as she continued looking into some unknown direction. Krista was unfazed by this behavior as she had found a finer grit stone to fix the chip in her nails. All the while thinking, "I have to keep looking perfect, or he won't want me", was the only thought in her mind. She still clung quite hard to a delusion that will never come to pass. As the two stood in their prospective cages, the announcer began to speak.

Announcer: "LAAAAADY'S AND GENTLMEN! PATRONS OF ALL AGES! SPEND YOUR COIN AT THE BAR OR CHOOSE YOUR WINNERS. THERE IS PLENTYOF COIN TO MAKE FOR EVERYONE. JUST REMEMBER TO CHOOSE WISELY."

Announcer continues: "In this corner, the red cage, we have the saber clan from the northern circle, she's big, she's dark , and she's full of razor-sharp edges, but can she keep a conversation, only if "I didn't mean to do it" is the answer to all your questions."

Announcer continues: "And in the opposing corner, an unknown, exiled beauty, is she any good? We will find out today. Ladies and Gentlemen, it should be an unexpected sight to behold either way. Now without further delay, let the starting bell ring."

The sound of a massive fifty-foot wide gong rings out through the stadium as a huge stone mallet suspended from ropes is slammed against it several times. The crowd roars in anticipation knowing what the gong means. Awaiting the next round of combatants to the arena that they may show whatever bloody outcome may ensue. It is a decent sized arena, not an overly large one. Unlike the smaller cities, it is a much larger arena ground. Up to fifteen different arenas surround this central one. The roar of tens of thousands of patrons stomping, when more than one bell rings out, is only amplified by the great walls that surround the large complex. The thick walls do not even tremble. Making it sound as though they were in a theatre watching actors in a play. All stares were on the cage doors now as they awaited the fight to begin. The sound of the crowds was already deafening to Krista making her ears hurt before she even left the cage.

Krista's cage door and her opponents rise at the same time. The alchemists had prepped the sigil stones for the transmutation spell that would force the two of them to change into their beast forms. It was sometimes necessary to force the change before the fights started, especially if they were newcomers. More than one stone being used per opponent was an uncommon occurrence and happened rarely, mainly to the male pit fighters. As they began to recite the incantations, the first set of sharp stabbing pains hit the two fighters hard. The opposing girls form began to change very slowly as Krista tried her best to keep from transforming. Large veins began pulsing, visible on bare skin.
