The Pretend Date

"Hey," Jason gave me a kiss on the forehead and I smiled at him like I was in love. "You look beautiful."

"I know," I took a seat beside him in the back of the Maybach and adjusted my seatbelt. The tinted windows were doing a great job of blocking out the bright flashes of the cameras that were currently packed around us. The paparazzi had been camped out in front of my apartment building all day. "They look like a pack of rabid wolves."

Jason looked out the window too and sighed. "I never thought that the moment I'd get to go on a date with you again it would be under this kind of pressure. Under any kind of pressure, really."

"I never imagined I'd go on a date with you again at all," I smiled when I saw his scowl and fixed my hair. "Life has a way of bringing two people together, no?"
