The Mother

"Amaria, this is gorgeous!" My mother held up a little baby onesie that was by the crib. Since Thanksgiving day, Jason and I had made a joint effort and moved most of my things back to the house where we agreed it would be better for our kids. Also, he was paranoid that something would happen to me when he wasn't around. "Oh my stars, I wish I had gotten you something like this, mija."

"No te preocupes (don't worry), your gift was more than necessary," I help up the baby monitors she had brought me. Out of all things baby related, I could not believe that a baby monitor was what I missed out on purchasing. Thank God for mothers and their foresight.

"I'm glad you can find it useful, mamita. Where's my son-in-law?" My mother put her hands on her hips. "I haven't seen him since I arrived."
