The Swordsman

When I died, it was nothing special; I suffered a heart attack as a truck approached to end my life.

I was an average guy that had an exceptional talent for fighting; I never expected to die in such a manner, I always thought I would go out fighting.

I loved martial arts and fighting people, but it was all in good fun, I never started a fight just because I would look for people willing to fight.

My hobbies were watching anime and stuff similar to it.

My life was a good one; I worked as a guard on a night club; everything was perfect.

Imagine my surprise when I find that after dying by sheer luck, I had the chance to live again.

A weird goddess offered me two wishes; she selected the world where I could wish something for.

The Demon Slayer World, I had two wishes, and I made them count.

I used my first wish wisely, I wished to know all the breathing styles; she informed me I would have to train them but that I would know what to do.

And for my last wish I asked to have the Transparent World - Sukitōru Sekai - With it I would be able to see the muscles, blood flow, and joint movement of living beings, allowing me to accurately predict and react to their opponent's movements, as well as confirm the health and well-being of others. Additionally, I would gain hyper-perception, allowing me to perceive the world around me at a much fast rate, making it appear to me as if the world was going in slow motion.

The goddess informed me that with this, I could awake the demon slayer mark, but that because I was a sun breathing user, I would not die because of it.

After that, I found myself inside a forest. I was four years old, all I had was a Katana, and some knowledge about how to use it.

My name was lost to me, and I decided to get a new one.

Dante Logbrok.

Years passed with me killing Grimm on the forest, each day becoming stronger and faster, I mastered the water breathing style first, and the other styles following it one by one.

Twelve years of training nonstop, using my aura as an extension of my body, to the point some Grimm would even ignore me, or run.

I would go to the city for clothes and other stuff every now and then, I had of course to steal those items, but it didn't hurt anybody.

I was a good six foot tall, with long hair tied on a ponytail, I looked a lot like a young Geralt of Rivia, with brow hair.

[PLOT THICKENS]

Roman Torchwick, the flamboyant antagonist every world must have that didn't amount to anything in the end, and four of his henchmen headed down an alley from the shadows, walking towards the local dust shop, while I ate a chilly dog with extra cheese.

"This seems like the plot..." I muttered as the hot dog guy looks at me with a puzzled expression, "The chilly is great, keep it up!" I smiled at the guy.

Returning my gaze to Roman, I see that the henchmen had stopped behind Roman, who apparently stopped for a brief moment to reignites his cigar; Roman then grinned before continuing on his merry way.

"I wonder how he managed to ignite his cigar without fire or aura..." I muttered.

Roman and his goons entered the local dust shop, where a young girl wearing a hooded red cloak is in the corner of the shop, reading some magazines

"She's oddly familiar," I muttered, and then I realize I was seeing Ruby Rose, the protagonist of this fucked up world I woke up all those years ago, as I ponder whether I should help her and blatantly insert myself in the plot or ignore this,

The henchmen look around and at the Dust crystals in the display when Roman approaches the elderly shopkeeper.

Roman approached the store owner flicking his cigar, "Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Dust shop open this late?"

One of the henchmen points his gun at the shopkeeper to add the extra missing flavor to the situation.

The owner immediately raised his hands and begged, "P-please! Just take my Lien and leave!"

"Well, I have my answer!" I proudly announce cleaning the chilly of my face; I decided to blatantly insert myself in the plot because there was no way I would let someone that can't see a that a robbery under their nose. (Ruby)Save my life or the world.

As I approach the store, I looked at the idiots he left guarding outside.

"Hey, buzz—" the first idiot tries to scare me off but is immediately knocked out, along with his partner idiot two, who didn't even register my attack.

"Sorry, pals, but you two can't dance with me," I chuckled, as I entered the store to find Roman close to the store owner.

Roman was holding the man close, in a soothing but threatening position, "Shhh, shhh, shhh, shhh, calm down, we're not here for your money," he then turned to his henchmen just to find them on the floor, while he pretended to soothe the owner I decided to be proactive.

"Sup," I waved at him.

"I suppose you did this?" Roman inquired with a smile.

"You suppose correctly," I nodded with a smile of my own.

"Very well then," Roman smiled, shooting me with his cane.

I pulled the katana that I had on my waist and started to cut the bullets down as I slowly approached him, walking, step by step.

"Ichi no Kata: Minamogiri," I dashed cutting his cane in haft and his aura, I was, of course, holding the technique back just enough not to kill him, but with enough force to break his aura entirely.

Roman didn't have time to insult me because I immediately slapped him into the subconscious world; without Aura, it was an easy task.

"Night night," I smiled, as I turned around to find Ruby fighting the henchmen that Roman left on the truck.

"That was awesome!" Ruby cheered as she destroyed the goons, "You were like fewwww, and I was like hyaaahhh!"

I chuckled as she fought the bad guys outside, she was adorable.

After we round up all the bad guys in a single corner, I started to talk with Ruby, she was pretty easygoing and practically told me everything I needed to know about her.

"Do you want to become a hunter?" Ruby inquired with a wide and hopeful smile.

"I guess I do...for now, I just want to fight strong opponents, and have fun," I answered with honesty, that was the main reason that push me into this situation, that and that I don't trust them to kill Salem.

As we continued to talk, a massive ship came into view hovering above us.

"I think that's our cab," I stood up, and waved at the ship, as a blonde huntress descended to greet us or punish us.

———————————————————

Inside the ship Glynda, the witch huntress was scolding us for doing a better job at defending the city than the local police.

Glynda has a stern look on her face, "If it were up to me, you'd be sent home... With a pat on the back..." At this, Ruby smiles, which doesn't go unnoticed by Glynda, who then adds,"...And a slap on the wrist."

"Hahaha," I couldn't help but laugh if this was her attempt to scare me, she was doing an awful job at it.

"What's so funny young man?" Glynda inquired with a somewhat angry tone.

"Oh dear, you were serious..." I said with a soft smile holding my laugh.

"Yes, I was!" Glynda confirmed.

"Then allow me to laugh even harder," I continued to laugh, as I saw Glynda getting angrier and angrier, I had my fun it was time to be respectful, "I apologize, miss Glynda, I tend to act out when confronted,"

"I accept your apology.." Glynda said, taken back by my honest apology, I didn't want to be an asshole, but a slap on the wrist is at best a bother, and I couldn't help myself with this.

She then proceeded to move out of the way, opening a door so that a man in green enters the room, holding a mug and a plate of cookies.

Ozpin then approaches Ruby, and said, "Ruby Rose..." he leans even more in to look at her face, "You... have silver eyes,"

"Well, that's a new icebreaker," I chuckled, seeing the interaction.

Ruby shifted uncomfortably on her chair, "Uh, um..."

"Dante Lodbrok, besides your name, we have nothing on you," Ozpin smiled, but this smile was empty of emotion.

"Then I must be slipping," I smiled back.

"Maybe you are," Ozpin chuckled.

"Are we in trouble?" Ruby inquired shyly from her chair.

Ospina shook his head and said, "So! Where did you two learn to do this?" He gestured with his head at the tablet he had showing Ruby's fighting and me defeating Roman.

Ruby answered immediately, "S-Signal Academy."

"Self-taught," I shrugged.

Ozpin turns his gaze at Ruby as he said, "They taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?" He then turns to look at me and smiles, "To reach such heights without a proper teacher, is commendable Mr. Lodbrok,"

"Thanks," I smiled.

"What about you Ruby, who taught you how to use that dangerous weapon?" Ozpin inquired once again.

Ruby smiled happy to answer, "Well, one teacher, in particular, taught how to fight,"

Ozpin nodded, "I see..."

Ozpin proceeded to put the cookies on the table in front of us. Ruby tentatively picks one up, and eats it in a single bite, and seeing that Ozpin didn't say anything, she starts to shovel the rest into her mouth.

I simply grabbed one, as I saw Ruby the Cookie Monster devour the rest.

Ozpin smiled at her antics before saying, "It's just that I've only seen one other scythe-wielder of that skill before. A dusty, old crow..."

Ruby then mumbled through her full mouth "Oh! That's my uncle!" Seeing that nor Ozpin nor me could understand what she said, she swallows the cookies and wipes her mouth, embarrassed, "Sorry. That's my Uncle Qrow! He's a teacher at Signal. I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing. And now, I'm all like— Hooowaaah! Witchaaaa!" She proceeds to explain doing some karate-style poses and noises.

"Oh god, you are too much," I chuckled, making Ruby blush in embarrassment.

"So I've noticed," Ozpin chuckled placing his cup on the table as he leans in, then sits down opposite Ruby, "And what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?"

"She's adorable, isn't she?" I smiled.

"Stop it!" Ruby exclaimed red like a tomato.

"I suppose we can, so tell me, Ms. Rose," Ozpin said, going back to his question, "Why are you in a school for warriors?"

Ruby smiled shyly and answered, "Well... I want to be a Huntress."

Ozpin pretended to be surprised, "You want to slay monsters?"

Ruby smiled widely, "Yeah! I only have two more years of training left at Signal! And then I'm going to apply to Beacon!" She continues talking going faster and faster with her enthusiasm growing, "You see, my sister's starting there this year, and she's trying to become a Huntress, and I'm trying to become a Huntress 'cause I wanna help people. My parents always taught us to help others, so I thought, Hey, I might as well make a career out of it! I mean, the police are alright, but Huntsmen and Huntresses are just so much more romantic and exciting and cool, and really, gosh, you know!"

Glynda and Ozpin study her, as I proceed to steal some cookies from Ruby.

"What about you, Mr. Lodbrok?" Ozpin turned his gaze at me, making Ruby notice that I had stolen three of her cookies.

"I suppose I want to help people, but in reality, what I like is the challenge, fighting stronger foes and coming up top, makes my blood boil with excitement!" I smiled; fighting was my drug.

"So all you want is to challenge yourself," Ozpin inquired.

"Yes, I suppose I do, and if I can help others along the way, why not?" I chuckled

Ozpin smiled, "Do you two know who I am?"

Ruby immediately answered, "You're Professor Ozpin. You're the headmaster at Beacon,"

"What she said," I answered.

Ozpin nodded, smiling, "Hello."

Ruby smiled back at him, "Nice to meet you."

Ozpin then stood up and asked, "Would you two what to come to my school?"

Ruby exploded with excitement and said, "More than anything."

"I would love too," I smiled.

Ozpin then chuckled and announced, "Then welcome to beacon, I expect great things from both of you,"

Ruby started to hug me while shouting that we were admitted to beacon.

————————————————————

After our meeting with Ozpin, we took us to the ship that would take us to beacon.

Ruby was incredibly excited with the opportunity, while I doubted teachers could actually teach me something here, the foes that would come would undoubtedly entertain me.

"That's my sister!" Ruby smiled, pointing at Yang.

Yang Xiao Long notices her sister and tackles poor Ruby in a bear, crushing the air out of her.

"Sup," I waved.

Yang smiled and waved at me as she hugged the ever-living shit of Ruby, "Oh, I can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me! This is the best day ever!"

Ruby was gasping for air and begging the torture to stop, "Please stop."

Yang chuckled, releasing her sister, "But I'm so proud of you!"

"You could show that without killing her,"

I proposed, to which Ruby aggressively nodded in agreement.

"You two are no fun," Yang chuckled.

Ruby then whispered at me, "Don't let her hug me..."

"I can't promise that but I guess I understand why your sister is so proud," I smiled, "You did great, you were awesome back there,"

"It was nothing, you did most of the job," Ruby smiled shyly.

Yang exclaimed, hugging her, with less strength, "What do you mean? It was incredible! Everyone at Beacon is going to think you're the bee's knees."

Ruby shook her head off, "I don't want to be the "bee's knees," okay? I don't want to be any kind of knees! I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees."

Yang narrowed her eyes, "What's with you? Aren't you excited?"

"Maybe she's panicking a bit?" I added.

"Maybe..." Yang hummed.

Ruby stopped our exchange, "Of course I'm excited... I just... I got moved ahead two years. I don't want people to think I'm special or anything."

"Don't hide your talents because a few will get their panties in a knot, those who are too weak to overcome their social stigmas aren't worth your time," I commented with a serious tone.

Yang smiled, going over and giving her sister a one-armed hug, "Like sexy over here said, don't let others tell you otherwise, you are special!"

"I guess..." Ruby smiled a bit.

Our attention is drawn to the newscast on Vale News Network playing on a nearby TV, talking about the robbery, and showing Roman behind bars.

The newscast start and a man starts talking —-//The robbery was led by nefarious criminal Roman Torchwick, who was stopped by a mysterious young man ending his reign of terror, Back to you, Lisa."

I chuckled with excitement, soon enough, Neo would come for me, and our dance would start.

The image changes to Lisa, "Thank you, Cyril. In other news, this Saturday's Faunus Civil Rights protest turned dark when members of the White Fang disrupted the ceremony. The once peaceful organization has now disrupted..."

Asshole number one was part of that group, the guy that would cut Yang's arm off, of course, I would stop that here, and show him how to use a sword, maybe cutting his good arm to humiliate him, the one character I disliked here, Adam.

It was a great choice to come, I can't wait!

The news feed is cut off as a hologram of Glynda replaces it.

Hologram Glynda announces, "Hello, and welcome to Beacon!"

Yang tilted her head, "Who's that?"

"Just wait," I poked her in the head.

Hologram Glynda smiled, "My name is Glynda Goodwitch."

Yang chuckled, "Ohhh"

Hologram Glynda then starts with her speech, "You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy! Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world." After that the hologram disappear and Ruby starts to jump from side to side, excited.

Ruby pulls me and Yang to the window and points at something, "Oh, wow! Look, you can see Signal from up here! I guess home isn't too far after all"

I can see the forest I lived in for years and smiled, "I see what you mean,"

Yang poked me in head and smiled, "Beacon's our home, now."

"Was that you getting revenge..." I chuckled.

"What do you think sexy?" Yang smiled.

"It's on," I smiled.

Before she can't answer or add something we hear a passenger groaning in pain nearby, as he ran to the back of the ship, throwing up small bits on his way.

I dodged the substances coming out of the guy with ease, "Well that was close,"

Yang looks at Ruby, "Well... I guess the view isn't for everyone," she then turned to me and asked, "Why did you move like you were avoiding something?"

"You'll find soon enough," I chuckled rubbing my hands together with an evil overtone.

Ruby confused as to what was happening said, "It was a nice moment while it lasted."

"I have vomit on my shoes...right...?" Yang looks at me.

I nod.

Ruby slowly looks down "Oh, Yang, gross! You have puke on your shoe!

Yang starts to jump on one leg, "Gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross!"

"Hahaha" I laughed as Yang chases after me and Ruby.

Ruby then jumps behind me using me as a human shield, "Get-Get away! Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me, Yang!"
