10 Mutation

Basking in the sunshine while enjoying her tea was a beautiful young woman who appeared to be in her early to mid-twenties. Her platinum blonde hair with onyx eyes gave her the look of nobility, while her posture confirmed her heritage.

This was Selene Seere née Caim, the Lady of the Caim pillar, the wife of Solas Seere, and the mother of Shisui Seere.

'Quite the beautiful day.' She thought while looking at her beautiful garden. She spent years designing it and spent even more time finding the correct flora for it.

"Selene?" She was brought back to reality by the voice of a certain man, more specifically her husband.

"Ah, it's lovely to see you, dear. Is there something that requires my assistance?" Selene asked her husband.

Her husband 'Solas' never disturbs her tea-time. Thus, his sudden arrival confused her a bit and… also a bit worried.

"Is something wrong, dear? You look worried." She said with visible concern.

Her question made him shake his head. "Oh no, I was just thinking about something else. But the reason I am here is because of Shisui."

At the mention of Shisui, the noblewoman persona instantly vanished and was replaced by the persona of a concerned mother. "What about our son? Is he alright? Did he get hurt?"

Her outburst made Solas chuckle. "Calm down, Selene. I just came here to tell you about his training progress."

This made her curious, she already knew that her husband was going to start Shisui's training from today but she was surprised to see him rushing to tell her about it.

"What happened? Was he unable to use his demonic power?" Selene knew how shameful it was for a devil to be unable to use their devil powers. Some of the heirs were stripped of their inheritance because of this and Selene didn't want this for her son.

Shaking his head, Solas replied "No it's the exact opposite. Shisui was able to shape his demonic energy in his first try."

Selene's eyes went wide. "You are joking right?" She asked, not believing what her husband just said. 'The only devils who are said to have succeeded in shaping their magic in their first try are Sirzechs Lucifer, Ajuka Beelzebub, and Rizevim Livan Lucifer. And if Shisui was able to do what these monsters did, then it is a huge achievement.'

"He was not only able to shape the mana but also form multiple spheres with it." This nearly made Selene lose her balance.

"Now you are pulling my leg because that's absurd. I don't think even the current Maous were able to achieve that when they were Shisui's age."

"That's not what I am worried about though…" Solas mumbled under his breath.

"Huh? Is there anything more?" Selene asked while raising a curious eyebrow.

"Well, I tried to use illusion magic on Shisui bu-"

"You did what!!!" Selene said almost screeching. "He is a 5-year-old! What were you thinking? Using an illusion on a 5-year-old!"

"*Sigh* Calm down, you and I both know that he is anything but a normal 5-year old. And before you get angry again, let me make it clear that it was the most basic illusion."

"But still… you can't use those techniques when he just started his training."

"That is the point! No child should be able to withstand illusions much less breakthrough them. But the moment I used the illusion it shattered like glass!" Solas exclaimed.

Selene froze and started analyzing what her husband just said. 'Broke through the illusion? How is that possible.' She got up from the chair and went towards her husband. "Explain "breaking through." She asked seriously.

"The moment I used the illusion Shisui flinched and his eyes turned blood red. They didn't just turn red but a comma-like symbol appeared around his eyes that formed a pinwheel shape. But his eyes returned to normal the moment I looked into them. At first, I thought I was imagining things but then I asked him to confirm my suspicion. He said that whenever there is something that moves faster than his eyes can react, they change into that pin-wheel design and the time seems to slow down around him."

Selene looked into her husband's golden orbs. "So you mean that the shattering of the illusion and the change in his eyes are related? Because that seems to be the only possible reason." She said.

"I asked him if he knew anything about those eyes but he said that other than the enhanced perception, he knew nothing about them."

"Do you think he was lying?" Selene asked, narrowing her eyebrows.

Solas immediately shook his head in denial. "No, I don't. He seemed to be telling the truth. His reaction was normal."

Both Solas and Selene stood there for a long time. "I don't remember any of our ancestors having those eyes. Neither do any other devil from the 72 pillars. Do you think it was some sort of mutation?" She asked her husband who seemed to be deep in his thoughts.

"There has indeed never been anyone other than our son with those eyes, in the entirety of the devil faction. So it has to be some kind of genetic mutation. And if that's the case, the mutation has granted him some strong optical ability." He said confirming his wife's doubts.

"But we don't know if there are any side-effects of those eyes... neither do we know the full extent of the abilities provided by them." She said letting out a sigh.

"That we don't. But we can't do anything about it unless Shisui uses it again and we get further information about it."

"*Sigh* I hope it doesn't affect him in any negative way."

"I hope so as well." Solas sighed as well.

[With Shisui]

I wonder if my father already told my mother about the Sharingan. I hope that he did because only then my plans will move forward.

Walking to my room I find Layla making my bed. She sensed my arrival and said. "Oh hello, Shisui. I was making your bed. Lady Seere told you to sleep early."

"I see and thank you for making my bed, Layla." I said before flashing her a smile.

"It's my duty to help you, Shisui. And I like helping you."

This girl has loyalty over 100, I can guarantee that.

Going towards her I said. "Shouldn't you sleep as well? You have been working for the whole day without taking any breaks."

Shaking her head she replied. "I cannot sleep before, young master. Even if I call you Shisui in private, you are still my master. And it's a maid's job to look after her master."

Sighing at that I said. "Very well then. But please take some rest after I sleep. I cannot afford to have you sacrificing your health for me."

Other than my parents, Layla is the only one I am close to. So I wish that she takes better care of her health. "*Sigh* Alright, Layla. I am going to sleep now, you should go and sleep as well."

She replied with a slight bow. "Very well, Shisui. Good Night."

"Good Night to you too."
