Refugees

Wreck's POV

It has been a week since the Battle at Norman Town and the whole Union has been extremely busy due to that event.

After the fall of the Leaders of the Sandon Army, the reinforcements from Baugan and Gaorus have arrived which made the human soldiers run for their lives without their commanders. We captured the leaders and some of their assistants as prisoners and also extract information. That evening we interrogated the leader who was the Great General of the Sandon City. His name is Brandon. He is a male in his thirties. We then found out about their motives of attack through a little bit of use of some force.

"Please spare my life!!! I will tell you everything I know!". Brandon pleads.

"Alright! Now tell us why you attacked this town?" I asked.

"Right! We elves have never harmed you, humans!" Chief Well added.

"It is because we have wanted to expand our territory and we have been lacking food and resources."

"Is that it? Then how did your city had a shortage of resources considering the fact that your city is a rich port city?"

"We have recently been attacked by the Kingdom of Thrile which devastated our funds, our farms, and especially our industry in the river, so we have decided to attack a nearby rich town which we believed that is weaker than us to recover, but little did we know that the mudlands have united."

The Kingdom of Thrile? So that kingdom is also making moves. I guess they are also preparing for war.

"Then how come your city was not occupied?"

"They did not occupy our city. They just stole all of our treasures and money. They also robbed our food supplies and other valuable materials."

"So your city decided to just steal from someone weaker to recover?"

"We had no choice. Hey, now that I gave you information can you let me and my comrades go?"

"No. You will stay here, but don't worry. We will feed you every day."

So now we have prisoners that can be used as leverage for negotiations. We thought that after that war everything would be back to normal, but it did not.

"Sir! A huge number of Beastmen refugees have arrived at Norman Town!" Bubba reported.

"Really? Then guide them here in Crimson Town since Norman is still under-recovery."

Another message has arrived.

"Sir! Another huge number of Salamanders have arrived!"

"Another group of Dwarves also arrived!"

"Human Refugees seek help, sir!"

"A group of escaped slaves has run towards here sir!"

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!"

That scream pretty much sums up my feeling right now. I have been extremely busy with the recovery of Norman Town. I have also been working hard on the Union's Constitution and also for the other matters in the Crimson Town. I am also going to be a father in a few weeks. Life has been stressful these days and a new problem has arrived. Refugees from the west came here. Damn, I am so tired.

"Wreck. Looks like the refugees came from Sandon City." Kirth told me.

"What?"

"These refugees were from small villages that were recently destroyed by the Sandon City Army when they marched towards the Norman Town. Looks like their houses got destroyed and they were once captured. Some were slaves and others were as workers."

Their lives sound a lot like Kirth and his family's lives.

"So what do you think we should do to them, Kirth?"

"Wreck. To tell you the truth, I want you to save their lives just like you save ours. They ran all the way here to our country to seek for help. I see myself on them. Their lives were destroyed due to the cruelty of the soldiers from that Sandon Army. I know that you are capable of helping them so please Wreck. I will vow to serve you my entire life if you do."

Damn. Even though it is a pain in the ass to take all of these refugees, I still have to do it. I saw how strong Kirth's resolve was. I don't have a choice but to do it.

"Alright."

Now I am kind of regretting that decision. Don't get me wrong, I pity those refugees but it has been a long time since I had a long rest. I miss those days when I and Laur hang out on the top of a tree. Those days when the number of people in the town was just under 30. Those days when we call the Crimson Town 'Village'. I miss those days.

Anyways after the approval from the leaders, we all started working. It has been decided that all of these refugees will live in Crimson Town because our town lacks the most in terms of population. Our town is also the only one that can accommodate a huge number of refugees due to our superior technology and resources. I ordered Rael to stop the constitution first and survey the refugees. I told her to count the number of refugees, their races, their needs, their preferences, and more. I gave her a team to do the work with her. Next, I ordered Grano and the Carpenter Squad to build huge apartment-style buildings. I designed it to be 3 stories tall.

After the survey of Rael was done, we gathered all of the new data.

The number of refugees is 1035.

There are 370 beastmen, 255 Salamanders, 155 Dwarves, 95 human, 85 elves, and 75 harpies.

There were no new races in the refugees. After the data analysis, I told Grano to build the buildings to be able to accommodate up to 100 residents. It has been decided to build 11 apartment buildings which have been projected to be finished in a month since I and every other carpenter from other towns will also be helping the construction process. Grano has been itching for a huge project since the walls so he has been extremely excited.

The refugees have also been temporarily been living in the inn and the other towns that have empty buildings. I have also prepared for the jobs of the new citizens of Crimson Town.

Now, it is time for me to talk to my new family.
