Chapter 43

Leigh tried to find a more comfortable position, but it was hard with her left hand handcuffed to a bracket on the wall. There were no windows, and she couldn't reach the door. The only things in the room besides her, was a full bottle of water and an empty pail. Leigh didn't think it would be too long before that was switched.

Rough lumber formed the walls. The air was cold and had a strange musty smell. The door might have come from her trailer. It looked strange. The floor was cement or rock. Leigh couldn't decide. Either way it sucked the heat from her through her pajamas. She couldn't stop shivering.

She tried screaming again, but was soon hoarse. Ryley came in, sat with his back to the door and stared at her. There was something wrong in the way he looked at her. If she weren't already shivering from cold, he would have made her shiver.

"Why are you doing this?" she asked through chattering teeth, "You don't have to be like this. "
