Chapter 23: Wheel Of Fortune

Life became a whirl of social events, planning and challenges. Torrance found a suitable warehouse. It had a large empty space for workshops to teach trades, and offices that would be used as classrooms. The biggest problem with the warehouse was its owner. It belonged to Marriette's father.

Marriette had sworn never to set foot in her father's house while he was alive, but a week of their month had already vanished. People beyond number depended on her to deliver on her promises. So she got in the carriage and went to visit her father. The only concession she made to her fear was taking along Giles, the young man t Torrance had hired to be her secretary. She wore the sapphire gown she had worn for the royal audience, and the butterfly pin in her hair.
