"You must send out to them and bring them back for punishment," reTaggin stood on the first step of the dais to harangue Marriette. If he wasn't careful, he would trip and slice himself open on the sword standing in the stone a step or two away from the throne.
"Don't you mean, Please Regent, ask Lady Joan to present herself so she may give her account of events."
"My nephew was stabbed in the back," the old man said. "It doesn't matter what he was doing."
Marriette bit her tongue. Illandria had turned out to be a wealth of information about the state of the other Houses. The young man had a reputation.
"Your Majesty," the major domo broke in to announce. "The Lady Joan wishes to present herself at court."
"Finally," reTaggin said.
"Marshal," Marriette spoke casually. "If reTaggin opens his mouth before we give him leave, you have my permission to muzzle him." The old man opened his mouth to argue, but a growl from Marshal changed his mind.
