"What am I supposed to do there?"

"Well, you are getting close to retirement. You could be praying you don't end up in a Home run by someone like you." The nurse went back to feeding an old woman whose hands shook uncontrollably.

Grant ground his teeth in frustration. There was no bloodshed, no fighting, except isolated pockets where managers had tried a little too diligently to keep their workforce at the job. The entire raid on the Underground had been a shambles, the only casualty some snot-nosed punk. He needed some action, some strife, some excuse. He made a call to a General.

"No sir. I can't send the army out just because people are going home," the General said. "It doesn't matter if you order it. I'll be the one with blood on my hands."

"I'm ordering you to restore order."

"I know, but I can't restore order if there is no disorder."

Grant slammed the phone down in its cradle. Then he dialed the commander of the army base outside of town.
