"One of those things bit you," I said, "I hope they aren't poisonous."
"It's alright," Bubba said, "it must be frog blood."
"Pants off," I said and went to get his first aid kit. The dogs were sitting with their tongues out. I wasn't sure if they were laughing at me or Bubba. I turned to go back to Bubba and saw that he'd gone commando today. I focused on the oozing bite on his upper thigh.
"I couldn't go in your room and get clean clothes..." Bubba said.
I wiped the blood off his leg and he breathed in through his teeth. I couldn't help but notice that it wasn't from pain. I was about to make some offhand comment when I looked closer at the bite. It was disappearing as I looked at it.
"I can explain," Bubba said, "but can I put my pants back on first?"
"Go in your room and get what you need," I said. "I'm going to take a shower and think."
