Chapter 61: Signals

The words were like a knife to Justin's heart. Him? Save them?

Others in the cellar were standing with Feliks, murmuring in excitement. Justin looked to Lycon for help, but the major was smiling. With a sick feeling in his stomach, Justin realized that Lycon believed it, too.

Somehow, these people had heard about the fallen angel named Justin Holmes. How five weeks had passed, Justin didn't know, but now that he was back, they expected him to save them. What they didn't know, couldn't know, was that aurym was still new to him. Through nothing short of divine intervention, he had escaped Lisaac in the Drekwood, and only through miraculous circumstances had he later managed to kill the three cythraul that had come after him. Now, he could sense three groups of cythraul, at least five or more in each group, all converging on Hartla from multiple directions. The aurym power of his return had been like a signal flare, drawing them in.
