Chapter 90

Odo's cheeks reddened. Before he could reply, a noise near the doorway caused all heads to turn. Four Knights Templar and their sergeants entered the hall. They stood guiltily near the door. As much as their commander, they too wanted to hear what Odo would say. Sir William was about to order them to leave.

"Let them remain, Sir William, if it is true what ye told me, then their desire to know the outcome is as strong as yer own.

"Very well," he replied.

Odo took a cleansing breath and turned back to Sir William. "We have discussed this gift and what it means to ye and I believe Oswald, er, Odo would want ye to have it. Why he left this decision to me, I do not know when he could easily have given it to ye himself." He made eye contact with the Templar commander. "It is yers."

Sir William looked upwards, crossed himself and began to silently mouth a prayer. In unison all the other templars and sergeants dropped to a knee in genuflection and began to recite their own.
