The Bishop waved his jewelled hand dismissively. "They are gone, and they have little interest in anything outside what fills their coffers. Ye won't hear from them again."

Abbott Andrew nodded in servile agreement and hoped the bishop was right. "But the herdsman, Yer Grace, I know the Church would benefit greatly if he succumbed to an unfortunate mischance."

"He has no guardians; this is the best time to deal with him." The Bishop offered the Abbott a smile.

"He and his woman were seen leaving Mellester over a week past, on horseback. They have yet to return, Yer Grace."

The smile vanished. "Oh?"

The Abbott looked at his master and waited.

"If the young imposter and his woman are on some journey, then it may serve the Church's interests if he never returned, what say ye, Andrew?"

"Of course, Yer Grace."

"He rides that stallion, he wouldn't be difficult to recognise... could ye send a man out, find the herdsman and uh ... resolve our dilemma?"

"One man?"
