Chapter 113

Early the following morn, ten fully armed Templar Knights and accompanying sergeants departed Combe Templariorum. With them rode Jagger, Odo and Charlotte atop Noor. She was excited at the thought of riding her new horse and the three of them set out, along with the Templars, in high spirits.

Preceptor Lucius insisted his knights accompany them for part of their journey. Their presence, he maintained, would provide a powerful deterrent to any highway men or brigands who wished to waylay the three travellers.

Minus the cost of Noor, Odo's coin was distributed equally amongst the three of them. The amount was too heavy for one person to carry alone. With the memory of the unpleasantness in Taunton still fresh in Odo's mind, he asked the preceptor for a proof of ownership document for Noor and a copy.

Late the previous evening Odo spoke with Jagger after Charlotte retired to the chamber assigned to them by the preceptor.
