Bishop Immers wasn't enjoying this very much. He fully expected a warmer welcome from the lord, with hat-in-hand, and appealing for the Church's compassion and pecuniary assistance.

On cue, the man-at-arms swung open the heavy door, a less than subtle invitation for the two clerics to leave. Bishop Immers swallowed thickly and reluctantly eased himself down onto the uncomfortable hard seat.

"I hope yer journey was without incident, Yer Grace?" Sir Hyde courteously enquired.

"Ah, nay. Although I admit I thought to be received with a little more cognizance, after all, I am a Bishop of the Church, do I need yer to be reminded?" He shook his head, his displeasure evident on his face..

Sir Hyde fought back another stab of shooting pain and ignored the rebuke. "Yer Grace, it uh, troubles me to bring this to yer attention, I'm sure ye have more important things to do like tend to the woeful and administer to yer various parishes."

Bishop Immers offered his first smile of the day.
