"Lies"

"She's waking up !" Rose heard a familiar voice shout.

Her eyes felt heavy but with an effort, she was able to open them up. Her blue eyes landed on her husband's face. He was looking down at her with a smile on his lips but his eyes were filled with tears.

"Why are you sad ?" she moved her hand towards his face.

Arthur grabbed her cold hand placing it on his left cheek.

"I missed you " he cried.

She smiled wiping away his tears, her eyes finally landing on all the people behind him. Irene, Sean, Ralph, and his wife Alex with Arthur's parents too.

She smiled even more seeing everyone there.

Am happy to see you all here " she smiled.

We are happier to see you awake " they all laughed.

After she drifted back to sleep, the rest left the room leaving Arthur and their son to look after Rose.

He watched over her until the next day when she woke up again.

"The doctor said you can leave after the poison is completely out of your system and your body is fully recovered," he told Rose.

"How did you get that lunatic to give you the antidote ?" she asked Arthur.

"I squeezed it out of her," he said.

Rose froze knowing what he meant, she turned giving Arthur a stare.

He smiled, seeing the smile on his face she realized he was lying.

" Don't do that, it scared me " she smiled.

" Your father was the one who actually told us where Victoria hid it " he finally told her. He knew if he told her the truth she might hate him again or worse leave him.

"Where are they now ?" she asked.

"I left the police handle the rest after we got the antidote " he lied even more.

" I hope they soon change and be good people for a change," she said.

"Not everyone can change no matter what changes they are given," Arthur said under his breath.

Rise soon got discharged and was welcomed back home with a party. Everyone was there smiling and giving her hugs. Arthur made sure the party ended early so she rest.

She had barely drifted into her slumber when she heard Arthur and Sean talking downstairs.

"Where is Rose, she disappeared during the party ?" Sean asked Arthur.

"She's resting. The doctor told me to look after her & make sure she and the twins are really fine " he said.

"It keeps haunting me for lying to her again after making a promise of never doing it," Arthur said

.

" I think you ought to tell her or when she finds out herself you will be in big trouble ". Sean warned.

" I know but just the thought of her seeing me as a murderer, the disgust and fear in her eyes from that day has never left my mind. That's why for the first time in my life I regretted having killed someone " he sighed.

"Don't wail on it, we all know Victoria deserved it and Rose will understand if she knows it was for her sake ".

"That's the problem, I promised to never hurt anyone for her sake but I did it again and am scared of what Rose will do this time when she finds out" he frowned.

Rose stood outside on the balcony and stared at the stars above. She was so lost in it that she didn't realize Arthur return to the room. He moved slower to her side with a shawl, wrapping it around her.

"It's cold and you're still recovering. Come to bed and let me warm you " he hugged her.

She smiled taking in his scent, chuckling she wondered how he always smelt so good no matter what.

" Let's go to bed " she answered. Arthur carried her back inside with a smile.
