"I wish "

Irene had pulled away from him and went back upstairs. She never gave him the answer he had wanted and pretended she never said anything.

Sean didn't leave Irene's side during her recovery time at home. She had insisted on going back to work the moment the pain stopped but he opposed it.

"Rose, Vivian, and Arthur's mother are handling everything. If you need something done just call them " he had said.

Irene knew it was for her good but being a woman who loved working and being among her friends suffocated her just being home.

"Then let's go to the park or something as long as it's not here " she begged.

Sean finally giving in decided for them to go to the park. He helped her get ready then set off.

The park wasn't crowded so they moved around slowly with Sean as her support. His arms never left her waist as he helped her walk around.

Taking a seat, Sean left to go buy snacks for Irene. She was surprised when he left her alone depending on the way he was so overprotective the past few days. But her smile slowly disappeared when she noticed men in black suits almost all around the park especially where they had decided to sit.

She sighed ignoring them Irene looked around the park, she kept looking at the passerby who seemed happy and free. Each one seemed to be in their world, some looked happy, anxious and others lost just like her.

It was then she noticed a mother with her baby in a stroller, the father was holding her purse and the baby's things.

It was then she realized how she could have been a mother too but her bad luck ruined it.

her eyes kept looking at them, their smiles while looking at each other and the affection in their eyes when they started down at their child.

Irene found herself smiling while looking at them. She didn't realize that her tears were flowing.

"Sorry I delayed, the place had a long line so I had to wait, " Sean said sitting next to her.

He turned to her, " Why are you crying love?" he asked after he saw her tears.

Irene turned away drying her tears, " Nothing my eyes seemed to sting a bit " she said.

Sean passed his handkerchief and told her to dry the tears. They sat there in silence as they watched more strangers pass by them as they enjoyed the snacks he had brought.

Time passed by and Irene didn't say a word, Sean finally looked by her side, " It's getting late we should head back "

"Just a little longer," she said.

A little longer ended up being for more hours. Sean looked down at his watch it was a few minutes to midnight. Irene noticed him looking at his wrist, "I think we should leave for home "

Sean nodded but remained seated.

"At first I didn't want to have a baby cause of your mother's opposition to our relationship but after what happened when you found out I decided to have one "She smiled.

Sean didn't say anything and listened.

"We tried but the result wasn't what we expected and you had to agree to them killing our baby " she cried.

Sean held back his tears.

"Maybe it my punishment for having stopped my body from conceiving when you wanted it because I was so selfish and scared that we might not work out cause of your parents and other differences but now we are..." she could not go on talking as she cried.

Sean moved closer and held her trying to stop her from crying but Irene didn't stop but continued to sob.

"I wanted to be pregnant, wanted to be a mother a.....and wanted to see your smile when you found out we were expecting but then..." Sean could feel his shirt drown in her tears as he held her.

"We still have a lot of chances to be, maybe it's just not the right time now," he said.

"Am sorry, am sorry " Irene cried.

He held her until she stopped crying and soon she fell asleep.

He told one of his men to bring the car closer from where he had parked. Sean carried her into the car and was driven off back home.

"How I wish I could take away that pain " Sean murmured as he watched her asleep in his arms.
