Chapter 129: Ceremony Part 2

“Sidonio had never revealed to Leah of his true origins, nor the fact that we were brothers. My brother and I had always loved each other as blood brothers do. Here was the quandary– we both loved this human born woman, this queen. This would need to be settled. Tragically, more uncontrollable emotions ruled and we found ourselves bound into a heated argument. In a rage Sidonio drew a knife on me, forgetting who I was. Naturally I tried to disarm him to stop him hurting himself. Alas, during the struggle he–he tripped and fell on the knife. There were no witnesses, except Leah, who had happened to walk in and saw Sidonio’s hand on my shoulder and assumed I had killed him in cold blood. No amount of persuasion would change her mind. The end result was I would forever be an enemy in her eyes. She was blind to the truth.”

Once more Kalvich paused to enforce meaning to his words. Leah sat spellbound. Was this what had happened, or was this purely rhetoric for her sake.
