Leah fell off her chair gasping for air.

She looked up at him in utter shock. A raw, animalistic instinct gripped her and a volcanic fury exploded. Her eyes connected with his. Cold, evil glare, a slight curve of his lips indicating a sadistic enjoyment of her ordeal.

He wanted her to feel angry with him, get some glorious hatred through those royal red veins of hers. He could never confront her with what he suspected. It felt perversely good to let her feel a touch of his wrath.

In a deadly soft tone he explained, “You are wondering why I did that aren’t you. There are many enemies of the Trimadians out there. You must free your mind and heart of emotion. If you are ever captured in battle you may or may not escape, depending on who and how they capture you. You must never expose your knowledge of the Trimadians. You tried to free yourself then didn’t you?” He laughed. “The more you struggled the more powerful I got by simply feeding off your desire to be free.”
