Chapter 23

Hormones (Again!)

I sat with Andre and Tosh in near silence through dinner, trying to make sense of what happened with Simone. The few times I did lift my head and look at her, I dropped my gaze right away. Her smoldering looks were affecting my digestion. And my ability to swallow. And think. And not be a total idiot. My initial break from her seemed to have worn off and, once again, I felt the lure of her sudden attractiveness, though I couldn't shake the feeling she wanted to devour me.

I watched her saunter out, thin hips swaying, an invitation in her eyes as she looked back over her shoulder at me. It wasn't until I looked away I realized I wasn't the only one staring. I think Billy was having as much trouble with his attention span. Even young Tosh was wide-eyed, a bit of French fry falling from his slack lips. I was able to pull myself free of her magnetic grip only after she left the room.

Tosh sighed and finished his dinner, taking his tray and leaving us to ourselves.
