Chapter 29

Demonstration

The windows of the black bus were tinted so dark I couldn't see outside. But was it to protect us from prying eyes or to keep us from discovering the location of their little private play place? I didn't know, but leaned in the direction of door number two. Not much about the way we had been treated led me to believe the military had our best interests in mind.

It was a quiet ride. My favorite black-suited agents met us at the top of the elevator and packed us into the bus without a word before leaving us alone. I worried for a bit one of the three up front would try something, but was pleasantly surprised. Even Billy and company seemed subdued by the dark interior. There was even a sealed door between us and the driver. It was like being enclosed in a black tunnel with only a few lights to illuminate the space, triggering occasional motion sickness because of the sensory deprivation.
