Chapter 62: The Beach

Though Destiny controlled our movements, I fully expected to reemerge from whatever means she used to transport us into my own private room in the Chaos realm. But, when I stuttered out of the shuddering gap she'd pulled me into, Time parting before her, my sneakers sank into soft, warm sand.

I knew this beach. I'd been here before with her, the first time we'd officially met. Was this her realm or just some place she enjoyed visiting? Not that it mattered right now. Nor did the beating sun, the scent of salt, or the pounding waves frothing on the shore a few feet away. I spun, sliding in the sand, to face Destiny with Chaos's fury taking over.

"Take me back!" I hadn't seen an exit door, and had no doubt if the tiny power of foresight decided I was staying here on this beach against my will she'd be more than able to ensure that happened. But Chaos wasn't willing to listen to such things as reason and surety and instead bellowed her fury through my lips. "Now!"
