Chapter 70: Adam's Evolution

He appeared before I had time to be afraid, standing before me, between me and the surging vengeance of Creation. Adam's broad back cast no shadow, light pouring from him, golden and beautiful and again I had that image in my mind as he stood against them.

The Furies parted, waves against the prow of a ship.

He turned then, smiled down at me, so stunning and pure and delicious. Offered his hand. I took it, standing next to him on shaking legs. Dad groaned between us as we stepped apart, linked by that touch, standing guard over my father while energy flickered between us.

Chaos answered him, whatever he was, with a rush of her strength. There was wonder and tenderness, fed by joy and a passion so powerful it almost overwhelmed me. It was the first time she'd felt so complete, so alive and real and right, I nearly dropped Adam's hand in shock.
