Chapter 158: Time's New Door

Not much to be done once Destiny-sorry, Time-disappeared behind her new door, the hourglass's slow but inevitable fall of sand making me anxious the longer I looked at it. Irresistible, that constant movement of bits of gold, the soft hiss of their motion only discernable as I leaned in and pressed my ear close to the glass. Mesmerized, lost in the feeling of Time literally moving past me as those particles made their journey through the tapered center, I found myself staring at it for far too long, knowing I had to act but unable to tear my gaze from the steady trickle of particles from the full upper glass into the empty vessel beneath. Sure, it looked like lots of material still had to make its way below and yet.

Amazing how fast it accumulated in a tiny mountain on the bottom when one understood Time was running out before your very eyes.

Talk about no pressure or anything.
