Chapter 50: Screams in the Dark

A scream pierced the darkness. Bradley sprang up and knocked his head on the low ceiling above the top bunk he was sleeping in. With a few pats on the wall, he found a light switch and turned on a small book light. Deb continued to scream in sheer terror as if she was being attacked, but there was no one and nothing touching her. Bradley jumped down, sat on the edge of her bunk and put his hands on her shoulders.

"Deb, it's okay, you're okay," he said assuming she was having a bad dream.

Deb opened her eyes, still in a panic, grabbed him, pulled him down on the bed, wrapped her arms and legs around him like a pretzel and the next thing he knew she was calm and sound asleep.
