Chapter 108: Bryerstone

Nearing Bryerstone in his small fighter, with Katreena sitting across his lap, Roy slowed the approach to a modest speed to minimize the sound and keep their arrival discrete. Being a new moons night, the sky was fairly dark; but more so was the Kingdom. Even in the middle of the night, it would usually be illuminated with numerous torches and fire stones that provided heat and light. Without the stones, the firelight offered very little to indicate they were coming into a city of thousands.

Setting down in a grove of dense trees a few hundred yards from the back of the castle, Roy and Katreena proceeded on foot.

"I can feel the despair in the wind," Katreena said as they walked.

Roy took her hand and squeezed it to offer comfort, but didn't say anything. He was thinking the same thing but did not want to say it out loud. He wanted answers before he spoke of anything more in the negative.
