Chapter 112: Messenger of War

The ringing in his ears was the first thing he noticed. Roy woke up in a prison cell with a lump on the back of his head where he had been clubbed. Pushing up against the hard stone floor, he sat up with his back against the wall and let his head drop down, his chin on his chest. His head was pounding, and his eyes did not want to focus right away. Taking in slow deep breaths helped him to focus and gain his bearings.

"Couldn't find another door. Had to blast the big one and piss off the locals," he scolded himself under his breath. In hindsight, he quickly understood that if the stones were working, he should have also assumed the population would also be restored.
