Any kind of argument Solomon thought to present to her over the old soldier's return died in that instant of her command. Perhaps it was apparent to him in that moment his daughter's loss came at the same kind of a crossroads and the idea of losing Didi the same way was too much or the old man to accept. Or, he'd already decided to give her what she wanted anyway and this was just his means of appeasing and pleasing her. The quick, reflexive grin of delight he hid behind a cough and a shrug couldn't dim the sparkle in his eyes.
