Chapter 46: Train Ride

Indeed he was right. I subtly wiped the sleep from my eyes, gaze locked on our friend as she huddled forward in her seat, speaking to someone in a black hooded cloak. I shuddered, hating it reminded me of the Brotherhood. Surely there was another color the Steam Union could use? I could only guess it was our visitor's affiliation.

Unwilling to hide from this new development, I rose and crossed the aisle, sliding in next to Josephine. She caught my eyes, her own expression calm which served to keep me comfortable. Jack remained where he was, but spun in his seat, leaning forward so he was able to hear. I watched Vasek and Stella slowly approach and wondered why I was the first to make a move.

"This is Robert Belaisle," she introduced us. "A dear friend and a member of the Union." Confirmed then, excellent. "He has news."
