Chapter 71: Two Sides

It didn't take long for the two sides of my magic to cause me discomfort on that voyage across the river. By the time we'd pulled away and I'd turned from Georgina's sad farewell, I was forced to set Sass in Kate's arms and find somewhere to sit down.

My connection to the water element was suddenly at war with the sorcerous call of the material, setting my head spinning. The others gathered, chatted quietly as the boat made its rocking way, but I simply didn't have the strength or the stability to participate.

The ferry wasn't large, but big enough for me to escape them all by circling the cabin and settling near the prow, hugging my coat around me and doing everything I could to keep my stomach stable while my magics fought back and forth for control.
