A knock at the door disturbed Xeoniteridone's focus on me. When it opened before he could say enter, his deep scowl told
me his son's entry wasn't welcome. But Elphremantic ignored his father's temper by holding up a glass bottle with the
familiar nectar inside.
"It's time for her dose," he said as though trying to sound casual. But I saw the eager tension in him and wondered what
it meant on the surface, while my insides crawled and yelled at me about as loudly as the voice now speaking at full
volume.
Xeoniteridone waved vaguely in my direction. "I'm done with her for now, anyway. Take her and make sure she's secure
before you dose her again. I don't want any mistakes this time."
"So you've said," Elphremantic said in just the right tone to keep his father from losing his temper. I knew that tone,
hadn't mastered it myself.
The moment you get him alone, Ahbi sent to me, much clearer now I knew it was her, you kill that nasty little bastard.
