Chapter 34

Seerpharel stroked Paul's scars.

"I could teach you so much," she said, "We could have such pleasure." She dragged a knife along the line of the scar, "Or maybe it's pain you prefer."

"Seerpharel, I don't think you're achieving anything." Beelphael said. "The people are demanding the Emperor put him to the Sword."

"He can't do that," she snapped. "We have no idea what would happen."

"The Emperor is saying he is bound by the Book to do so."

"Tell him not to."

"I can't tell him to ignore the Book."

"Then change the Book."

"Do you really want him to know the part of the Book that makes him Emperor can be changed?"

There was a knock on the door.

"The Emperor wishes the prisoner to be brought out for questioning."

"Very well," Beelphael said. "Make sure that he is well secured. He's a dangerous man."

"Yes, Your Eminence."
