[Chapter 18] How Difficult?

"Wait.....are you...you the last guest?" I ask as I think about the last missing guest, confused. "She nods and waves at her pink friend, "This is my friend Kasuni..." Kasuni just glances at me before looking away, distrust filling her eyes, but a slight bit of interest in them. 'Guess she doesn't like "flesh beings" but is curious about me....' "....and I am Rasuna." She says while staring at me, waiting for me to react.

"Hi there Rasuna, and Kasuni. I'm Kurayami." I say while smiling, my toothy grin saying hi brightly. I then open the door and have them enter, letting the door lock itself. 'Since they are the last ones, I don't have to worry about anyone else.' "Please follow me and we can go speak to our father." I say, feeling slightly like a butler,but all of a sudden, I remember someone. I pat the void slime on my head and it meows and starts purring again. The slime girls look shocked. "Where did you find that slime?" Asks Kasuni. "This is Winter, it's a void slime that came up to me a few minutes ago and now it's mine I guess." The slime girls look at eachother and then at me. "What?" I ask curiously while patting the slime.

"Void slimes were thought to be extinct. This just proves that they are somehow alive and surviving. This is a one in a million occurrence and it chose you? You don't even look like anything special, no offense." Says Rasuna. "Chose me? What do you mean?" 'And she has no idea how interesting I am!' I yell in my head while maintaining a confused look. "In order for a slime to be owned, it must bite its owners hand with the intention of a bond while the owner thinks the same. They will then link and become bonded. Living as long as the owner does." I give the Void slime my hand and go, "Like this?" And as I say that, the void slime bites my hand. My hand burns as where it bit me creates a tattoo marking. The tattoo is two purple fangs surrounded by a circle of gold.

"Wha....it just accepts you so quickly?!" I stare at her oddly, "What do you mean?" Kasuni butts in. "This is rare, he must be unique in some way." She then looks at me, all hate gone from her eyes. "Most slime familiars require the owner to do a test to prove their worth. This however is the most unexpected because void slimes take no one as their owner, they are the most powerful slime and don't bow down to anyone, which means you must be as powerful or more powerful than the void slime in order for it to accept you as it's owner. What affinities do you have and what species are you?" I stare at her and she shifts uncomfortably. "You can find out during the party. Now please follow me." She puffs her cheeks in anger yet is blushing. But she eventually just sighs and nods.

We walk in silence until I hear one of the slime girls talking in whispered gargles. "He is definitely different than other guys, ay, he could be the boyfriend you have been looking for." Whispers Rasuna as she elbows Kasuni. She was just teasing her but Kasuni stayed quiet which was a first for her. After a bit more silence, Kasuni responds, "I don't like flesh beings, I have told you that already." Rasuna tried not to laugh, Kasuni didn't even date slime guys either.

As soon as we walk in, everyone is talking, drinking some of the drinks, some even looking at the food, drooling. 'It looks quite lively in here.' I turn around to see the two slime girls walk in. I continue guiding them until we get to my Dad.

He looks at me, then at the slime girls and smiles, he then speaks in slime! "Hi Rasuna! How have you been?" She smiles back Kasuni looking mildly shocked at how a "flesh being" could even learn their language, but then she looks at me and her shock lessens, remembering that I have been speaking slime the entire time to them. "I have been better but thanks to him..." She points at me. "...we didn't get lost this time." Dad nods, but then gets a confused look. "What do you mean he made sure you didn't get lost this time?" She then looks at me and goes, "He doesn't know yet?" I hesitate for a moment before I shake my head which in response, turns a few. I all of a sudden hear comments like, "Did he just respond to gargles?" Or "Can he really understand them?"

Dad looks at me, then at Rasuna, looking even more confused. I look at him and speak in slime, "How difficult is it to learn this language?"

"..."

Dad's eyes widen as I say each word as fluent as the first. "Where did you learn that?!" He asks in disbelief. I just shrug, "Even if I told you, you wouldn't believe me."

He sighs, knowing I would say something like that but was hoping otherwise. He then looks back at me, "As far as I know, were the only two people who know how to speak slime. I think it's because of the difficulty of it. Basically, slime is a language exclusive to their kind and our body's usually aren't able to make the same noises as them. I spent years learning it so I could raise my daughter right."

"So basically, we are the only two who know slime from your knowledge?" He nods, looking slightly calmer now. 'I wouldn't be able to do this without the system. It basically auto translates what language I want to speak.' We talk about it a bit more until I see Elva and a squad of kids following her, all around the same age, all reeking of the "I'm better than you" aura. '*sniff* *sniff*, I smell entitlement....' Elva walks up to me, the plastic smile back on. "We challenge you to a magic battle, no limits." Our dad does a double take as he sees his daughter challenging me to a magic battle. His face is calm when he realizes it's his daughter but gets shocked when he hears the words, "no limits".

"Elva! You have no right to challenge you brother to a battle with no limits, I allowed you to fight with Aeron because it had limits but I still had to intervene personally, he still has the scar from when you almost cut his leg off! I say no!" She looks at her father and says with the still plastic smile, "It isn't your decision to say no, the challenger would have to be the one to say no." She then looks at me, "What do you say? You are always saying your the most powerful in our family, and I always put up with it till now because I love you brother." Then the kids that would fight beside her start backing her up.

"Yeah, put your money where your mouth is!"

"Don't wimp out you over grown chicken!"

"He's so scared, he is gonna say no!"

'Damn it all! She planned this, if I don't accept this, then everyone will think I gloat power that I don't have. But if I do and get my butt kicked, then it's still the same result, which means I have one option. To win.' "I accept your challenge." Dad's face almost melts off from absolute shock. He grabs me and pulls me to the side. "Do you have any idea what no limits means?" I shake my head, showing I have no clue. He gets down on one knee and looks at me like he is giving his final talk with his son. "No limits means I can't intervene, unless you are about to die from your wounds. And it also means that you can't surrender. Your sister turns into someone else completely when she fights, almost like a personality change. And you know no magic or fighting styles, how do you plan on fighting?" I look at him, my eyes brimming with confidence. "If I fight, I won't be a coward, I want to establish my stance here and now. I will win. After all, I can't be seen as a weak gloater in front of my siblings, right?" I say as I walk away, I hear him almost cry in the background, "He stands no chance."

'I stand no chance, we will see about that!' I think while walking towards a stadium being growing from trees. I walk in and everyone is gathering on the bleachers while I stand in the middle waiting for my challengers. The stadium is about the size of five football fields long and three wide. Then my challengers walk in and everyone's jaw almost drops. They walk in with magic gear on, not giving two cares that I had nothing on. "Let's see here...the two orcs are wearing plate, Elva and the dwarf are wearing robes, and the tabaxi has assassins gear on. This fight isn't gonna be easy with my current experience." Ping!
