[Chapter 30] Training Mode?

I look at my watch, "Is it really almost the end of the day?" 'And I'm starting to get hungry...' I think after I finish my core reformation. "You getting hungry Winter?" "Meow!" Goes Winter on my head as a sign of agreement. I walk downstairs to see some of the left overs from the Christmas meeting yesterday.

I sit down and eat as much as I can before I am full, I thank my mom and dad for the meal and run back upstairs. "Okay, so you have the void ability. Can you reopen that hole in the void like you did last time?" "Meow!" Goes winter as he stares at the wall again, only for it to show up and show...me.

I look at him, my face full of wonder, which my void self replicates. "Can you enter through this?" I ask while pointing at it. He tilts his head slightly, before realizing what I meant and shaking his body. "Okay, can you see other people?" He takes another pause before shaking his head. "So it's only specific to watch me?" He pauses again before going, "Meow." As what I presume to be a yes.

'This ability is practically useless. Unless other people are watching or I plan ahead.' I think to myself while outside I just rub Winters bouncy head, him purring in response. 'Okay, so now all I gotta do is gain more knowledge on this world. I need to learn about the history of this world and it's magical history, along with how to cast spells. I don't want to abuse my active abilities too much, I should keep them as trump cards against powerful opponents.'

I think while laying on my bed, Winter purring beside me, and the portal now gone. I glance at my watch, 'It's a bit early to go to bed, but I'm still pretty tired from the fight....' I think while I doze off, I close my eyes, and fall asleep. Ping!

I open my eyes to see a new notification.

"Training Mode has now been completed!"

"Removing Training Mode....done!"

"Automatic skill collector has been turned off."

"Good luck!"

'Training mode?' I think while I read this. But as I read removing training mode, it dawns on me. 'This was so I could get prepared for this world. Hence why I could get abilities for doing almost nothing. Then wait a minute...what is the strongest being here?!'

I sit up, much more awake than before. 'Okay, so I don't know who the strongest beings are on this planet...I just got to be careful.' I then look over to see Winter staring at me, his face tilted slightly. "Sorry Winter, something just scared me, that's all." I say while I rub his gelatinous head, he does one of his pauses again before he goes, "Meow." I lay back down and close my eyes, but I just can't sleep, my heart is pumping, refusing the sweet release of sleep to come over me.

I eventually fall asleep just to wake up almost immediately. 'How much more difficult is it gonna be now?' I look at my watch and realize I was awake contemplating for most of the night. I begrudgingly get up from my bed and head downstairs to eat some breakfast.

I walk downstairs to see my mother cooking eggs, bread, and bacon. I hug her and sit down at the table, me and Winter patiently waiting for the others to wake up and breakfast to be finished. 'Bacon, eggs, and toast, simple yet tasty, my favorite.'

'Anyway, so training mode made my life surprisingly easy, but now I'm assuming I will have to gain skills through other means such as quests. So depending on the difficulty of the quest, it might depend on the worth of the reward. And speaking of skills, this makes me wonder what other skills exist in this world.'

'And last but not least, the system. It gave me no notification that I was in training mode. It makes sense to an extent, if I knew it was training mode and I gained abilities this way, then I would of farmed nonstop. Which makes me wonder....was this a set time, or did it choose this time?'

Meanwhile, at Restard's Capital, the king is getting up for another day. "That was a weird dream...." he says as he gets up, his pajamas hugging his body. He looks over at his wife, her face sound asleep. She wears a red gown with black fringes on it's arms and bottom. 'Guess she had another hard night.' He turns around and enters a bathroom, and takes a bit of time to clean off, he then looks in the mirror. He is about 5'7ft tall human with a slightly large beard. He has dark brown hair and the body of a knight, scars covering him, showing he has seen his fair share of battles.

He puts on a tunic, pants, and leather shoes, covered with gems and enchantments and then a black and white tunic over top, holding his crest on the back. The crest is a white and black phoenix entangling in a fierce fight but neither side is winning or losing. He looks in the mirror, a pleased look on his face and leaves the bathroom.

He walks over to his wife and gently rubs her shoulder and says, his confident yet kind voice emanating softly throughout the room, "It's time to get up." She looks at him, sleep clinging to her eyes, "Just a little bit longer please...the affairs I had to do yesterday were exhausting." He nods, acknowledging that she must of had a rough night.
