[Chapter 83] Date?

I walk down the hall a little bit longer just to be met with a snobby vampire.

"I can't believe that runt, getting trained by such a dangerous person, she is definitely going to be ended in the arena by..." she trails off as her eyes land on me and the slime looking at her mockingly.

"What was that about Winter?" I ask as the shadows begin to gather on my arm. "Does someone need taught another lesson? I have been dying to find out the limit to your regeneration." I say as the shadows harden into what I am calling the talon gauntlet.

Her eyes go wide as she sees the weapon and she takes a step back, then another, then another. As if she is on a repeat loop, and I am the requirement. She suddenly turns around and screams as she runs down the hall as fast as she can.

"Help! A maniac is trying to kill me!" And the two girls run behind her, clearly knowing they are outmatched. I laugh as they run, they want a maniac, I can surely act like one, but not right now, I currently have a date to get to. The gauntlet disappears as I pet Slime Winter, calming me down to my usual self. And then I continue to walk down the hall till I'm in front of the door. I knock on the door and am greeted by Winter's father.

He smiles as he sees me, "Kurayami! It's good to see you again! Your coming to join us for dinner, right? Come in, come in." I scratch the back of my head as I walk in, 'Good to know I have one parent's approval I guess.' I sigh as I realize I might be developing feelings for Winter after all, I mean I wouldn't have these thoughts if I wasn't, would I?

I walk forward and see a much neater looking women than I last saw her. She is wearing much more casual clothing though, a t-shirt along with some grey sweatpants, I find out why she is dressed like this when she yawns and wipes her eyes.

"Sorry honey, I was asleep, is everything alright?" I see her look over to me and her eyes widen slightly before she waves at a seat in the living room. I nod and sit down on the couch, facing the large holographic screen as she sits across from me.

"How have you been?" I ask as I look her up and down." She yawns while answering, "I have been better since I have gotten my sleep, by the way, how's Winter's training going?"

I sit there slightly shocked, this women seems to somewhat have a soul. I would of never expected this woman and the stern manager I met a few days ago to be the same person. 'Guess everyone can worry about something.' I think as I nod my head.

"She is learning at a rate I would of never expected, she definitely will give those in the competition a run for their money." Samantha smiles at that, "That's good, and I owe you an apology and an explanation."

I sit there expectantly as I wait for her to continue. "First off, I'm sorry that I had attacked you, it was rude of me but I sadly had no choice and no way to tell you." I look at her confused, "What do you mean?" She sighs as she continues, "I was commanded by the Executive Manager to capture or eliminate you, he provided the people and I was forced to attack. We didn't even consider him mortal anymore, he was a terrifying being, one that we couldn't imagine taking down, so we were forced to obey, that was just the hierarchy here. But then you came along and killed him somehow, which caused all this to happen."

I sit there and mull over what I heard, 'She was pressured by a higher power when she didn't want to do it. But she had to carry out the orders out of fear of punishment, the same as keeping it a secret.'

Suddenly, I am hit by a sharp pain in the back of my skull as I am suddenly standing in an office. There are medals in picture frames on the walls and a diploma behind a large man with black hair. The man looks like he has been through countless battles and is currently staring at me in disapproval and anger. He suddenly speaks, his rage boiling in his voice.

"I told you to kill the kid, he had the information that could end my whole career, yet what do you do? You stand there and stare at him as he runs away, now my job is at risk! Do you have any idea how screwed I am?!"

I stand there and stare at the wall in front of me. "I couldn't do it sir, I'm sorry but my morales got in the way."

He laughs evilly, barely containing his rage, "Morales? Soldier, what if I threatened to kill your family? Where would your morales be then?"

I continue to stare at the wall, not daring to utter a single word. The man slams his fist on the desk, "Dammit! Answer me! Your the Head of the Weapons Engineering division but can't answer such a simple question?!"

I continue to stare at the wall before replying coldly, "No sir."

Suddenly, I am sitting in the living room, staring at Samantha who is looking at me with a worried look, "Kurayami? Are you alright?"

I snap back to reality, "Yeah, I'm fine sorry about that, I zoned out." I say as my mind is currently refiling itself as hundreds of blueprints fill it.

'So I used to be in the military and was the head of the engineering team. It explains how I can design stuff that others wouldn't. But I was told to kill a kid? I don't care who you are, unless the kid is going to threaten your life, don't attack them. And all these blueprints, there are so many in my mind, it is kinda scary that I suddenly understand them and know them.'
