I suddenly hear the announcer yell, "The fight between Zralin and Vorkin will begin in 1 minute!"
A voice behind me enters my ears, "Excuse me gentleman, can I have your attention?" I get up and look behind me to see a person standing there, a human. He is of a regular height and wearing very casual clothing, the only thing standing out is his watch and bright green hair.
Before I can even say anything, he speaks, "Well, this is for Broc. Stop what your doing instantly, do not help the author anymore or the consequences will be severe. Could you tell this....Zralin Estis this. Thanks." And with that, he leaves. I walk over to follow him but when I enter the hall, he is gone, as if he was but an illusion.
I sit back down and contemplate what just happened as I remember the watch he was wearing. 'That was a very nice watch, I should've took it! Damn it!' Erika looks at me curiously, but doesn't ask anything as she looks back down, semi shivering in her seat.
I look down to see Zralin and a green Dragonborn standing in front of him, he is muscular with scars tracing across his entire body and one of his eyes missing, giving him the look of a war veteran. But the most defining feature on him are his back scales, instead of ridges, they look to be like wires, made of some sort of bone.
I see Zralin look up and wave at me before looking back and my jaw drops as I witness what's happening. His legs grow and his form changes, the horns on his head grow longer as his wings grow larger till he is 70-80ft long and 45-50ft tall.
I look over to see a different process happening with the green Dragonborn. As he grows, armor plating made of white bone form onto his body as the thin and metal like hairs on his back grow larger and seem to begin to shimmer in the light. He finishes growing and is now a whopping 80-90 ft long and 60-70ft tall!
I suddenly hear a masculine voice echo throughout the massive stadium, "3, 2, 1, begin!" With the last word uttered, I watch as Zralin spreads his wings and pounces forward, gliding towards the galloping dragon with an amazing speed. Dust flys behind the two scaled creatures and in less than 10 seconds, the gold behemoth reaches his enemy slightly past midway.
Zralin suddenly retracts his wings as he grabs onto the green dragon's neck and begins to tear into the bone plating. Vorkin feels this and growls in slight pain as the hair on his back suddenly stands up, aiming directly at Zralin.
I can barely contain my astonishment as the spikes suddenly launch and cover Zralin in an array of spikes as they lodge into the spots between his scales! 'Those weren't hairs! Those were quills!'
I hear Zralin roar in pain as he suddenly grabs two of the armor plating pieces where they meet and he begins to forcefully pull them. I hear yells from them both as Zralin bleeds with every second while he pulls off his enemy's skin.
'Now I know why he forbid his son from coming here till a later age.' I think with horror plaguing my face as Vorkin suddenly rolls onto his back, trying to crush Zralin to get him to let go. I hear the sound of flesh being torn along with an inaudible scream as Zralin lays there on the floor, a piece of bloody bone plating now in his claws.
Vorkin is now bleeding from the neck as his muscles visibly move under his neck as he begins to try and control the pain. He slowly gets up and stares at Zralin with a light in his eyes as he suddenly takes a large breath in. His turn bloodshot as he holds in something as everyone gasps with amazement below.
He suddenly breathes out as green gas goes everywhere, causing the barriers to glow as the gas hits it. He pours in all he has into the gas, causing it to slowly fill the arena, settling on the floor, I suddenly hear the sound of wind as Zralin bursts fourth from the layer of gas.
Zralin's once pristine golden scales on his back are all dyed crimson Ashe gazed across the sea of green. Suddenly, a pillar of gas bursts fourth as a needle flys towards Zralin, causing him two fold his wings for a few seconds to dodge the needle. Suddenly, another flys towards his current location. He sees this and quickly holds up the bone plating, deflecting the needle and causing it to stick into the mana wall.
I hear a gasp and look over to see Erika with a shocked look. "What's so shocking?" I ask with a confused expression. She stutters as she speaks, which is a first for me, "T-these barriers c-can hold a lakes w-worth of w-water."
I shrug, "Cool I guess?"
I see Zralin laugh as he jumps down into the gas, his face beginning to turn red. I hear a boom as he lands and watch with awe as I suddenly see the gas begin to bulge with a glow where he entered and watch as a pillar of fire bursts fourth from the center. The audience goes wild causing it to cheer even louder along with a ton of support to Zralin.
I watch as the fire glows even hotter as the cheers are heard and the pillar grows, filling up the entire center of the arena. Suddenly, the fire pillar falls forward as it pierced through the mana barrier, cutting a new window into the arena and a plethora of people to scream as the audience cheers ecstatically.
Suddenly the pillar whips around as it reenters the center of the arena, cutting through the gas as if it was butter. I see the beam suddenly go down even farther as it suddenly fills up a quarter of the arena, turning the sea of gas into hell's territory. The once plain ground now burns with fire with heat that even I can feel and stare as Zralin stands in the flames, blood and sweat covering his face as he pants heavily.
He pulls the needles out of his back as he winced in pain, blood pouring over his back like a river. He quickly lays on his back as the flames cover his body, when he stands up, the blood is burnt onto his scales as the bleeding stops. He grabs the handful of needles he pulled from his back as he blows his flames on them, causing them to turn a slight red glow, and I watch as Zralin then throws them into the gas, causing a scream to be heard.
Zralin smiles with a pained expression as his wings expand and he opens them to their full expanse of 160ft each.
He launches into the air with sonic speed until he reaches the very top of the arena, then he sees a small lump in the flat sea of gas as it moves left and right. Zralin smiles as he folds his wings and becomes a golden meteor soaring towards the bump. Before Zralin enters, he says one word, "Check mate."
Suddenly, a loud scream echoes throughout the gas as the sound of thunder rings throughout the arena. The mages wait for about 30 seconds before beginning to mutter as wind blows away the gas and water is poured in the fire. As the arena is cleared, the view causes me and the audience to stare in awe.
As the sea of green recedes, a dragon is standing on top of another dragon's back. The dragon's stand in a massive crater with cracks running all along it. The dragon on top looks down at the dragon, his gold scales shimmering in the light.
The ref breaks from his stupor as he announces, "The match is over! Zralin wins!" With that, the audience goes ecstatic as a group in the masses sigh in defeat as their bets and favorite lost. Healers quickly enter the arena and begin to focus all their healing on the passed out Vorkin. As I look, j notice that the bone plates along his back are all cracked into countless pieces as a group of spikes lay broken along his back.
Zralin smirks as he walks towards his changing room as a healer follows and heals him. I hear Erika's awe filled voice, "How is he unharmed?! A fall like that should of at least broke his legs!"
I smile as I know why easily.
