I look at the blade as a new small smile forms on my face. Liz wakes up from her shock quickly this time, seemingly getting used to shocking things and extends her hand to grab the blade. I react quicker though and hold it up above her, out of her reach. She looks at me confused as she asks, "Why can't I have the blade?"
I look up at the blade, down at her, and back up at the blade before asking her, "Do you have any knowledge on symbiotic relationships?"
She pauses for a moment as her face contorts into confusion, "Of course I do, I am not 10. What does this have to do with the weapon?"
I lower the blade as I tell her, "Do not touch this blade yet and I will tell you what it has to do with it."
She watches the blade lower and has the temptation to grab it, but resists, knowing I am being serious. I nod as I begin my explanation, "This bond that I created works as a symbiotic relationship, you have to be prepared to touch it because there is going to be a momentary tug of war for the control over the blade. Most souls are tainted by something, there being a very few untainted souls." She nods at my explanation with shock flashing in her eyes.
"The soul I inserted in your blade was tainted with mass genocide of an entire town after the mayor gathered a mob against this innocent man. It was very shocking but I knew it was the perfect soul for this blade, one driven by the yearning to defend your family and friends, just as this man did for his wife and kids." She stares at the blade in my hands with her jaw dropped as I continue.
"The reason I gotta be here for this is so I can stop the soul from completely suppressing yours. It's simply going to be a parasite till you show your dominance and beat it in the tug of war for ownership." She looks at the small kunai in my hand, asking me curiously, "Is this what happened with you and that blade?" I wrap my hand around the kunai as I nod, "This soul was tainted with the rape and murder of her son. She almost overpowered me as I was caught off guard, but she made the mistake of provoking my wrath, the wrath of my soul manipulation."
She nods, understanding the danger as she mentally begins to prepare herself, not knowing what was to come. After a moment of silence, I hear a voice to my left, "Using sinners souls to create weapons! What wisdom! Truly a great idea lord." Says my follower enthusiastically as he bows his head towards me.
I then see Liz nod her head as she looks at the blade, "I'm ready."
I hold out the blade to her as she holds her hand over the blade, seemingly wavering on whether to grab it or not. After taking a deep breath, her face relaxing, she places her grip on the blade. As her hand grips the handle, her eyes narrow as they fog over and her body stiffens.
'It has begun.'
I place my hand in her shoulder as I use Soul Manipulation to see the battle and what I see shocks me. I see a black space, devoid of even the slightest light, except two wisps. I see the red soul quivering as it pulses with fear, something I have never seen a soul do before. A large soul towers over it, pure white in color as it begins to absorb the red one, causing the once pure white soul begin to absorb the sword's.
'I need to stop this. I don't know what the outcome could be from her soul absorbing the red one. She could turn into a mass murderer for all I know.' I think as I activate Soul Manipulation.
The red soul suddenly freezes as the white soul slows down, as if in molasses. I slowly begin to sweat as I begin to reverse the process, 'Doing this while keeping them both alive is definitely arduous.' I complain in my mind as I finally split them apart.
I hold them apart as I slowly form a light wispy purple tendril between the 2. 'This is the connection, now I have to make it so they connect inside this chamber.'
I take a tendril from both souls and slowly guide it into the tube, the two suddenly connecting with ease.
I sigh in relief as I sit down on the floor, 'I did it. Finally.' What felt like hours was actually just minutes, the tension I was feeling gone.
I lay down on the cold floor as the fog in Liz's eyes dissipates, letting her look around. She looks at the blade in shock, "That was easier than I thought! Hey Kurayam-" that's when she sees me laying on the floor, sweat drenching my head. She gets serious as she limps over and crouches down, making me realize that she has been silently enduring painful injuries. She places her blade beside me as she takes a cloth from a bag at her side.
She wipes the sweat off of my head as she asks, "What happened?" I look over at her with a nervous look, not knowing if I should tell her. I eventually shrug and give in, "Your soul is abnormally large, it tried to absorb the soul in the sword and I had to make sure I didn't alter your's while forcefully intervening."
"I had to make the bond myself while keeping both your souls separate. It was an extremely fatiguing task as I don't have complete control over my soul affinity, even after gaining it 5 years ago."
She looks at me and nods before standing up and offering her hand, a curious look still on her face. I grab her extended hand as I pull myself up and grab the blade while doing so. I hold out the blade once I'm standing and she grabs it, her curiosity getting the best of her once again.
"What side effects would there be if our souls merged?"
I shrug my shoulders while looking at her, "I can at least assume there would be a chance of a split personality, a personality change, or you becoming a different person entirely."
