[Chapter 164] What Did I Do?

I yell up at Dreag, "Thank you! You can transform back again!"

The large cat nods as his form shrinks, showing a curled up Orc, no cloth in sight.

'Shit. Absolute Shadow!' A dome of darkness covers Dreag as I run into it, the large distance practically being a jog in my eyes. As I run, I feel the slime on my head jiggle around, a funny feeling rippling through my hair. I enter the mass of shadows as I see Dreag holding a handful of light, now fully clothed.

I close the dome entrance behind me as I assume a serious look, focusing on a matter I need to with him. "We need to talk."

He senses the serious air around me as his face grows stern and he nods, "What is it?"

I wave my hand as two simple chairs appear. I pull one of them towards me as I sit down, "I want you to become a teacher for my kingdom."

He freezes for a moment, apparently not expecting the offer. After all, this was requested out of the blue. He stands there frozen for a moment as he mulls over what I requested before sitting in the other chair.

"I'm sorry, I cannot leave the Divine Beast hierarchy even more disturbed than it already is, since the Griffin Divine Beast is here in this realm. I doubt he will go back and the entire hierarchy will have to reform itself at this point anyway because of you..." His face goes dark as he asks, "What did you do to the gas in the room I was locked inside exactly?"

The shift in topic worries me but I push it aside as I tell him. "I simply reversed the flow of the gas, suctioning it back into the pipe. If the divide wasn't removed which I am sure it wasn't, the others in the room should be waking up right now."

Dreag's face darkens even more as he stands up, "Then you have no idea of what you have done."

I would usually make a pun at this time, but I currently understand that something is wrong by how Dreag is acting. Dreag is almost always serious, but I have never seen him like this.

"What did I do?" I ask as I feel the temporary room seemingly get colder, which should be impossible with this heatwave.

He looks up at me, "There is a secret among the kingdoms, one part of it has been kept in that room since the Divine War. And you awoke, it, him..."

I get nervous as I bounce my leg up and down, the rarity of this feeling reminding me what it's like to be afraid.

"Dreag, I am in no mood for guessing games. Tell me." I say as serious as I could, startling even him.

He quickly assumes his previous demeanor, "The kingdom had chosen two brothers for an emergency experiment to try and save their home from destruction. The experiment was to try and create two artificial Divine Beasts."

My eyes go wide as my jaw drops. I would of never thought that would even be attempted, more or less, thought of. I have heard that people have trie to force divine beast power into them but never trying to make a new one completely. I swallow as I ask, "What happened?"

He sighs as he explains, "The two brothers were the only S-class military personnel they had, so they truly were risking everything for their kingdom which was being attacked. Somehow, they succeeded and these two beings that were viewed as the heroes that saved their kingdom."

He takes a deep breath as he continues explaining, as if from his heart. "They protected it past the Divine War and as people gradually forgot their achievements, hate for their artificial form began to spread within the kingdom. People discriminated against them and eventually, the royalty of the kingdom grew to it as well."

"The brothers bared with the hate, having sworn to protect the kingdom no matter what. But that changed when it got too much to bare, having to face hundreds of years of hate in silence." His eyes slightly tear up and the light in his hand flickers, making me realize he actually has an emotional connection to these people.

The scene in front of me gets even more shocking by every passing moment. "They snapped, turning on their kingdom and beginning a holocaust. Thousands were massacred as the place disappeared overnight, the only reference that there was even a kingdom there being the dungeons. All the technology they had made and hoarded was destroyed by the duo as they left, making sure nothing remains..."

He drifts off as he sniffles a little, wiping away the tears from his eyes as he looks up at me, pain written in his eyes. "These two, who I considered friends and allies, were tracked as they traveled through the continents, always just out of reach. One day, they both disappeared for months, as if they vanished. But the kingdoms stayed wary, and one day, one of them reappeared."

"But he wasn't alone, he had an army of five high ranks, each with a similar no magic that we have never encountered before. The other Divine Beasts at the time had to put rivalries aside as they captured him and his group, but I refused. I couldn't stop the other Divine Beasts from fighting, but I could not participate and fight against my friend."

"They were captured at the cost of an entire town, sealed and drugged in the Divine prison under Restard. I had joined Restard kingdom for that one reason, to protect them. So I gave up fighting and turned towards the calmer life of a teacher, only fighting if absolutely necessary. But I guess those days are over now that they have awoken, I need to find them before the other kingdoms do." He says as he wipes away his tears, his face turning serious. I nod, understanding that this is something he has to do.

I stand up as the chair underneath me disappears, "Then please at least enjoy your time here, we will be leaving once I finish arming my soldiers, the rest will follow calmly." He nods as a small smile forms on his face, "I will then. You have been a great student, and I guarantee you will be a better king."
