Chapter 4: An Opportunity

I thought that being maid was going to be easy but I thought wrong. Me and Fen Fang had to wake about 6 am everyday. Since we were on kitchen duty we had to cook for the emperor, set the table and do the necessary kitchen stuff. One good thing about being on kitchen duty was that I had a chance to go meet the emperor in his room when his is about to eat. Being ugly had it bad side and good side which wasn't that good after all. I got bullied by the other maids and couldn't do any thing about it. Now that I had the chance to go to the emperor's room, my plan was to sneak out of the room without anybody noticing me and hope that the emperor is asleep when I get there. Unfortunately my plan didn't go as planned because the emperor wasn't at the palace that night. When getting back to my room I overheard two maids talking on how there was going to be a competition for choosing the emperor's personal maid. I was so happy getting to hear this because this would make it easier for me to achieve my goal faster. All I have to do now was find a way to win. Being exhausted because of the daily work, I slept peacefully dreaming of how I will turn back to my normal self.
