Ren Jiang rushed over to the kitchen while Liu Qiaoqiao and Liu Qinyang turned to the right and walked down the hallway and out to the patio door which led straight into the garden.
The garden was a florist's dream with beautiful flowers planted all around that gave the whole garden a sweet floral scent.
It was their mother's sanctuary. She had put a lot of effort into making it, so She had personally planted and nurtured each flower. There were well-constructed inbuilt swings and sat-out locations.
The garden had been the usual playground for all the Liu Children and their friends. Growing up Liu Qiao Qiao and Liu Qinyang and their elder brother Liu Qiqiang joined their mother to plant various flowers and vegetables in the garden.
They had made some good memories right here in this garden. That it's no surprise that this was still their favorite spot to hang out whenever they were home.
Their father Liu Jiahao was a high-ranking official in the army and as such was always assigned to carry out various missions, covert or otherwise for the country.
He wasn't always around when they were growing up. They had spent the majority of their childhood with their mother right here in the garden planting and caring for flowers and vegetables in their free time.
The organic vegetable garden was located at the side of the house
Their Elder brother Liu Qiqiang following the Liu family tradition joined the army right after college. He was currently posted outside the city, so he wasn't coming back home for dinner.
The garden was their father's favorite reading spot. He was currently seated under the wide canopy tree reading a book.
Lieutenant general Liu Jiahao was still a very handsome man even in his fifties, like most soldiers he was tall and muscular.
After all these years he had aged like fine wine. His silky hair was still black with a few faint white strands. He still looked young and had a fantastic figure that at first glance people still assumed that he was still unmarried.
Their mother had always told them that their father had been sort after in their younger years by Female soldiers and civilian young ladies alike.
Even when they were engaged his admirers still kept coming. Some outrightly confessing to him but Liu Jiahao never paid them any attention, he only had eyes for Ren Jiang.
She had recounted a few of her experiences with their father's admirers. It was so bad that to make them completely give up she had invited most of his admirers to their wedding.
Their wedding had been the talk of the town because there had been more female guests than male. Numerous female guest is from the male's sides.
"Hey Dad," they said walking over to his seat.
"You are both here," he said placing the bookmark into his book and setting the book aside, and standing.
"Yes, Daddy. Thanks for sending uncle Gu to pick us up" Liu Qinyang said as she skipped up to him and hooked her hand in his.
"There's no need for that munchkin. I got tired of waiting, how have you been my dear" He said drawing her close and smiling down at her.
"I've been good. I have a little free time this week, so I'll be spending it at home with you and mum. We can catch up" She replied smiling.
"That's wonderful isn't it Qiaoqiao. Since you all moved out of the house getting you all together has been difficult. Your mother would be so happy to hear this" He said looking back at Liu Qiaoqiao who followed them closely.
"Dad I can't stay back" Liu Qiaoqiao replied
"Why?
"I got signed by a company, so I will start working soon"
"That's really good news. Let's get inside, and you can tell us all about it" he said pulling her into a hug with his free hand and leading them forward.
By the time they got back in the table was lavishly set with a lot of their favorite dishes. Ren Jiang spent all their efforts in preparing this meal.
They quickly washed up then returned to the dining room.
"Wow mum this is amazing, you outdid yourself," Liu Qiaoqiao said taking in the view as she took a seat.
"Oh please you're my precious daughters if I don't do this for you who would I do this for. The two of you are the only one that seems to Care.
That son of mine never even bothers to call these days. Sometimes I wished he had stayed back and practiced law instead of joining the military" She lamented.
"Xiao Jiang, surely you're just being silly. Qiqiang is serving his motherland like all good Liu sons. It's in his blood" Liu Jiahao responded quickly.
"Who cares about any of that, I am worried about my son. I have this one so, and I can't even say where he presently is or what he's doing.
It's been six months since I spoke with him Jiahao. Six months and all for what so that he can follow your family tradition. I'm sick and tired of just conversing through emails, I need to hear his voice and see him face to face"
"Alright that's enough, let's not fight Qiaoqiao and Qinyang came back home for dinner. It's been a while since we saw them"
"Yes, that's right mum. I'm sure elder brother Is just fine wherever it is. He's just busy, that's all she will call you when he has a chance" Liu Qiaoqiao consoled softly.
"Yes mum elder brother is just buddy with work, you know her serious he can be. That's right mum Qiaoqiao has good news to tell"
"I guess am just being emotional, your brother is fine wherever he is. Qiaoqiao you have good news for us"
"Yes, mum I just got signed in to a company this morning. It's called Baiyu studios and that's not everything. I also got cast in one of their productions"
"That's wonderful news Qiaoqiao when do you start"
"I will start attending acting classes and voice training tomorrow then in two weeks I will start filming my scenes".
"Wow you did well Qiaoqiao," Ren Jiang said cheerfully.
"Yes she did, I am so happy for you Qiaoqiao"
"Thanks, Dad, thanks, mum. This time I won't let you down"
"Us, no no no baby, You're not doing this for us now you're doing this for yourself. It broke my heart to see you so devastated this past year. You are so talented Qiaoqiao, don't ever doubt that" Ren Jiang replied quickly.
"Thanks, mum"
"Alright, this calls for a celebration. Since you can't drink and you both have to watch your weight. I will go get us some low-fat yogurt. I'll be right back" Ren Jiang said pushing back her chair and running off to get the yogurt.
A short time later she returned with the yogurt and after giving everyone their bottle each. She made a toast and they all resumed eating.
